In medical colleges the most important variable is the patient inflow in the affiliated hospitals, it's great in my college, probably the highest among all the medical colleges in my state. And the variety of clinical cases is also commendable. We get to learn hands on a lot of procedures during our final year and internship. The other important reason was the researc culture in our college, like no other government college in the state ;very supportive staff. Besides this the opportunities to get involved in activities like sports, literature, dance, drama, music, art are pretty good. We take part in various fests and competitions held across south India. Admission process - Qualification in NEET UG examination. College allotted based on rank through a counseling process conducted by KEA - Karnataka Examination Authority. Cut off - General category - 646 (2021) No interview process is involved. I had prepared for NEET through extensive 2 years of coaching and self practise
I chose the course - MBBS because of the scope it has to contribute in healthcare and provide healthservice to common public. Qualification of faculty - Most Asst Professors and Professors have MBBS, MD (specialisation in that department) The teaching is great ; mostly through powerpoint presentations. The faculty are very approachable and friendly We have 3 internal exams followed by a final University Exam. The difficulty is moderate. Demands consistent studies throughout the year. Fee hike is very uncommon because it is a government institute. The total cost of study might be around 5 lakhs including the academic fee, hostel fee, convenience fee and other expenses. I receive no scholarships because I am for the general category. There are very few pure merit scholarships.
A compulsory internship for a period of 1 year has to be done. During the internship we are posted to different departments like Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and gynecology, Paediatrics etc and we duties as physicians and assisting surgeons. A intern is paid a stipend of around 30k per month. Besides this we can do administrative internships from private hospitals as physicians, getting paid around 2k per day
There is nothing called placements in medical colleges. We finish an internship of one year. Then apply for government rural service. The stipend for an intern is around 30k per month and for a doctor doing rural service it is around 40k. Most students do post graduation by cracking NEET PG or INICET. The percentage of students getting into PG I our college is 80%. I am planning to Post graduation in Surgery after my MBBS

There are three different Boys Hostels and one girls hostel close to the college buidling. Registration can be done by contacting the warden of the hostel. The hostel fee is around 50k per year. The food is moderately good whole the room facilities are fine.
There are top rated faculties which are present in the college who have pursued MBBS and MD degrees from top colleges and have for an exam to become a professor in this college and the teaching skills are pretty great as they make a topic pretty easy to understand for students
