BMCRI Admission Process

BMCRI uses a merit-based admission system. For MBBS, there is no management quota in Karnataka government medical colleges. All 250 MBBS seats are allotted through NEET UG rank under AIQ and state quota categories.

BMCRI MBBS Admission Process

Students applying for MBBS at BMCRI can use both counselling routes with the same NEET UG score. To keep both options open, they must register separately for MCC and KEA counselling.

  • Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB). Students need at least 50% aggregate in PCB. Reserved category candidates in Karnataka need 40%.
  • Age: The student must be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year.
  • Entrance exam: A valid NEET UG score is required.
  • AIQ (15% seats): MCC allots these seats through mcc.nic.in in Round 1, Round 2, and Stray Vacancy rounds after the NEET result.
  • State Quota (85% seats): KEA Karnataka allots these seats through cetkarnataka.nic.in. Karnataka domicile or Karnataka category certificates are needed for state quota eligibility.

For MBBS, BMCRI's General Category AIQ closing rank in NEET 2025 was 1,642. Karnataka state quota seats close at higher rank numbers because only state domicile candidates compete in that pool. Kannada medium candidates also have reserved seats with higher closing rank numbers.

BMCRI MD and MS Admission Process

Admission to MD and MS courses at BMCRI is based on NEET PG. MCC conducts counselling for AIQ seats, while KEA Karnataka manages the state quota seats. The counselling pattern is similar to MBBS, with separate rounds under each route.

  • MD eligibility: An NMC-recognised MBBS degree and completion of the one-year compulsory rotating internship are required.
  • MS eligibility: The same eligibility rules as MD apply.
  • DM and M.Ch eligibility: Students need an MD/MS degree in the relevant parent specialty and a valid NEET SS score.

BMCRI Placements and Career Outcomes

BMCRI does not offer campus placements. After MBBS, students generally choose NEET PG for MD or MS, government health service, private clinical practice, research, or public health work. A large number of BMCRI graduates prepare for NEET PG.

The compulsory rotating internship takes place at Victoria Hospital, Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, and Vani Vilas Hospital. Interns receive a monthly stipend from the Karnataka government. After MBBS, graduates from Karnataka government medical colleges have a service bond obligation of 2 years in a government health facility or a rural/tribal area. Students who do not complete the service must pay the bond fee.

Service Bond: Karnataka government medical college graduates, including BMCRI graduates, must serve for 2 years in a government healthcare setting or in a tribal/rural area under the Karnataka Rural and Urban Service Bond. If they do not serve, they must pay the bond recovery amount. Students should plan for this before choosing their post-MBBS path.

Pre-clinical and community medicine seats close at higher rank numbers.

BMCRI Campus and Infrastructure

BMCRI is in the KR Road area, Chamrajpet, Bangalore 560002, in central Bangalore's civic and heritage belt. The 200-acre campus connects classrooms, laboratories, and teaching hospitals in one integrated medical education setting.
