RGUHS Courses and Fees

RGUHS has a network of more than 600 affiliated colleges in Karnataka. These colleges run medical, dental, AYUSH, pharmacy, nursing, and allied health programmes. The table gives total programme fees under the General Quota across the affiliated college network.

At postgraduate level, MD is offered in areas such as General Medicine, Pediatrics, Radiodiagnosis, Anesthesiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, and Family Medicine. DM super-specialty choices include Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, and Neonatology. M.Ch options include Neuro Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Urology.

RGUHS Admission Process

Admissions for RGUHS-affiliated colleges are handled through central counselling systems. RGUHS does not directly allot seats. KEA conducts state quota counselling for MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, and B.Pharm, while MCC handles the All India Quota seats. In government colleges, the All India Quota covers 15 per cent of total seats.

MBBS and BDS Admission

For MBBS and BDS, students need 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. General Category students must have at least 50 per cent aggregate marks, while SC/ST/OBC students need 40 per cent. NEET UG is compulsory for all applicants, including NRI candidates. The process follows these steps:

• Step 1: Clear NEET UG with the required category-wise percentile
• Step 2: Register on the KEA Karnataka portal at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in
• Step 3: Complete document verification at the assigned KEA help centre
• Step 4: Fill college and course choices during the Option Entry window
• Step 5: Check the seat allotment result and confirm the seat online
• Step 6: Visit the allotted college in person within the given deadline

General Category closing ranks for MBBS seats in government colleges under RGUHS differ by college and category. Students should refer to official KEA allotment data from earlier rounds for college-wise cutoff details.

AYUSH Programmes (BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BNYS)

For AYUSH courses, students must pass 10+2 with PCB and secure at least 50 per cent marks. Admission is based on NEET UG, followed by KEA Karnataka counselling. These admissions follow the same KEA counselling schedule used for MBBS rounds.

MD, MS, and MDS Admission

PG medical admissions require a valid NEET PG score. MD/MS applicants must have an MBBS degree, while MDS applicants must hold a BDS degree. A completed internship and valid Medical or Dental Council registration are also required. KEA allots Karnataka state quota seats, and MCC conducts counselling for All India Quota seats.

Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Health Sciences

Karnataka state candidates enter B.Pharm through KCET, which means Karnataka Common Entrance Test. B.Sc Nursing and allied health courses use either NEET UG scores or 10+2 PCB merit, depending on the affiliated college. M.Pharm and M.Sc Nursing admissions are held through PGCET Karnataka.

RGUHS Career Outcomes

RGUHS is an affiliating university, so it does not run a central campus placement system. Career options vary by course and by the affiliated college where the student studies. MBBS graduates from government colleges under RGUHS commonly enter Karnataka government health services through direct state recruitment and compulsory rural service bonds after graduation.

Many MBBS graduates from RGUHS-affiliated colleges choose NEET PG for specialisations such as Radiodiagnosis, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, and Anesthesiology. Private medical colleges affiliated with RGUHS that have strong hospital networks also provide placement support through their parent hospital groups.

RGUHS Campus and Infrastructure

The RGUHS headquarters is located in 4th T Block, Jayanagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka, and covers 44 acres. The campus includes central administrative offices, an examination division, a central digital library, and a learning management system for case-based learning and online assessments for registered affiliated students.

The university also runs a central Online Student Admission Portal and a Scholarship Portal for meritorious students and students from socially disadvantaged groups. Across undergraduate and postgraduate health science examinations, RGUHS handles more than 3 lakh candidates every year. It also has an anti-ragging cell and a grievance redressal system as required by UGC and NMC rules.

RGUHS vs Dr. MGR Medical University vs MUHS

RGUHS in Karnataka, Dr. MGR Medical University in Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) are major state health science affiliating universities in peninsular India. Each one supervises health science education in its state, works with hundreds of affiliated colleges, and connects admissions with NEET and state counselling systems. Students studying in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, or Maharashtra deal with the respective university for examinations, degree award, and academic regulation.

Among the three, RGUHS has the largest affiliated college base and covers all districts of Karnataka. Dr. MGR Medical University is the oldest, with more than three decades of history in Tamil Nadu.
