Government Medical College Calicut is close to my hometown. Moreover it's the largest Medical College in South India both on the basis of infrastructure and patient load. Government Medical College Kozhikode was ranked the best medical college of South Asia in 2005. Coming to bad aspects of CMC,since it's a government college the environment and habitat is not always pleasant. Hostels facilities are decent but the hostel Life in first year is pretty difficult. First year students are allotted dormitories while as we progress to second and third years we get spacious 4 people room. Final years have single rooms. Admission to CMC is through NEET. The exam is pretty competitive and should score a minimum mark of 670+ in 720. For me, 2020 NEET was comparitively less competitive. I scored 655 marks and AIR 3075 and Kerala rank it was around 540 range and with OBC quota I recieved admission to the prestigious institution. Preparation for NEET is based on 11th and 12th grade Science subjects.
Curriculum is based on National Medical Counsil of India guidelines and was reintroduced in 2019 as CBME(Competitive Based Medical Education). Academics is very good with well-versed faculties and infrastructure. Teaching is mainly through projector-ppt presentation, exams usually occur every 3 months as internal assessment tests. I we study effectively and consistently it's a piece of cake. Tution fees per annum is ?22050 and Hostel fees is around ?10000 yearly. Mess fees is around ?3000 monthly. Yes there are many scholarships and academic opportunities including reasearch facilities in the campus.
The curriculum demands one year of compulsory internship after passing Final Year University Examination. The Intership is indeed pretty hectic and the working environment is too difficult. But eventually we do acclimatise and it certainly do help in remoulding ourselves to a better one.
Eligibility criteria is passing Final Year MBBS University Examination and completing one year of Internship. The interns do get a salary of around ?30000 monthly. After completion of the course usually a candidate should prepare for NEET PG,INI-CET or JIPMER PG exams or go for USMLE or PLAB. My plan is to take MS from AIIMS after clearing INI-CET.
CMC is popular for its Campus Life. Once a CMCian is always a CMCian. No one in their college life complaints about our college. The main fest are College day held in February months and Campus elections held in May. We have numerous Fest monthly including and interbatch arts and sports fest and Onam celebration. CMC has a large Central Library were you can find almost all the necessary books and research works. The campus also has a 24 hour working Reading room facility. College Union conducts various activities on the banner of numerous clubs established and run by the seniors. College have a Stadium complex with Gym,track,Cricket pitch, Football turf, Basketball and Volleyball courts. Coming to the hostel the food is great and menu is excellent.Registration process is simple and done during admission procedure and is certainly affordable compared to rented rooms or PG.
The eligibility according to our teachers is that we have to get the 7.5 above CGPA and the number of companies that have visited and recruited are TCS Wipro et cetera and the highest package will be to 7 and lowest will be 2 lakh my plan after the degrees that I will opt for higher studies and specialised in some specific course like Java and will look for the companies like that
college provide best on their placements , as a part of making college to be best at the era . principal told to our batch that they will provide 50% of placements , i am glad to be in this batch because sometimes i may get a college placement to make an expirence for the future jobs
I chose Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) because of my interest in technology, programming, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The curriculum follows KTU regulations and covers both theory and practical subjects. Most faculty members are qualified . Internal exams and semester exams are conducted on time. The difficulty level is moderate to a lil bit high and students who attend classes regularly can perform well.
I choose this course because i have a strong interest in history and understanding past events, and culture and their impact on the present.the course curriculam is well structured and covers both core elective subjects, giving a balanced understanding of historical concepts.
There are few placement opportunities like infosys but we can't opt for high salary paying jobs.I am planning to complete mtech after graduating btech. There are many students with jobs from college selection but I don't like many jobs from college as per their salary
The faculity is generally experienced and supportive most students are satisfied. With the teaching clinical exposure. Facilities are friendly with the students. Regularly conducts class test and model exam to help students prepare for their studies and university examination. Faculties are high qualified and experienced
Most of the faculties are bds or mds graduated and well knowledged. Classes are mainly powerpoint presentation based and seminars. There are 2 internals and one model examination based on which qualification for university exam is determined.
I love zoology.. I want to build my career on this subject. My faculty has phd.. She teaches well.. I could understand all concepts very easily. There are internal exams. I am studying four year fyugp course. So there is only one internal. And then there is sem exms at last. If u study well u could score good marks. Little difficulty
As I'm a first year student I've not got information about the placement but there are so many placement options from South Indian Bank, icici bank and also from companies like deliotte etc The college has connection with many international companies too.
Minimum criteria for placement is for a student with minimum arrears.Even though supply there if you have skill then you will be placed .Amal Jyothi has a better placement compared to other college and is very good
