AIIMS Raipur Courses and Fees

Students can study at AIIMS Raipur from the undergraduate level through post-doctoral certificate courses. As an institution supported by the central government, it charges subsidised fees. The main programmes, entry requirements, duration, intake, and total fees are listed below.

Male and female students can apply for separate on-campus hostels. The annual hostel fee is up to INR 15,100. MBBS students are paid a monthly stipend of INR 26,300 while completing their compulsory one-year internship.

AIIMS Raipur Admission Process

Admission requirements differ by course. NEET UG is used for MBBS, NEET PG applies to MD and MS, and NEET SS is required for DM and M.Ch. AIIMS Raipur conducts institute-level selection for its B.Sc, paramedical, MPH, PhD, and PDCC programmes. Seat allotment for the national medical entrance routes takes place through the relevant MCC counselling process.

Entrance Exams by Programme

MBBS Admission

AIIMS Raipur fills all 125 MBBS seats through NEET UG and MCC counselling. Every seat is part of the All India Quota. The institute does not have state quota or management quota MBBS seats.

• Eligibility: Pass 10+2 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Biotechnology. The minimum aggregate is 50%, or 45% for reserved categories.
• Age requirement: Applicants must be at least 17 years old when admitted.
• Entrance requirement: Selection depends only on the NEET UG score. There is no separate AIIMS MBBS entrance examination because it was combined with NEET in 2020.
• Counselling steps: Applicants register for MCC online counselling, submit the security deposit, enter their course and college preferences, and receive allotments according to merit and submitted choices.

MD / MS Admission

Applicants to MD and MS courses need an MBBS degree from an NMC-recognised institution and must finish a one-year internship before applying. Selection is based on NEET PG, followed by MCC PG counselling for All India Quota seats. The available disciplines include General Medicine, Paediatrics, Surgery, Obstetrics, Orthopaedics, Radiodiagnosis, Anaesthesiology, Psychiatry, and other fields.

DM / M.Ch and Super-Specialty Admission

NEET SS is the entrance route for DM and M.Ch seats. Applicants must already hold an MD or MS in the appropriate parent specialty. DM choices include Cardiology, Nephrology, Neonatology, Endocrinology, and other areas. M.Ch courses include Neurosurgery, Urology, Paediatric Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Plastic Surgery.

B.Sc and Paramedical Admission

AIIMS Raipur uses its own entrance tests for B.Sc Nursing and paramedical admissions. Candidates need Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in Class 12 with an aggregate of at least 45%. Selected programmes also have NRI quota seats under institute rules.

AIIMS Raipur Placements and Career Outcomes

AIIMS Raipur does not follow the standard campus placement model. After MBBS, graduates commonly take NEET PG for an MD or MS seat, enter government medical service, or work in private clinical practice.

The AIIMS name supports graduates when they compete for NEET PG seats, and a significant proportion of each MBBS batch enters postgraduate courses at leading government medical colleges. Graduates are not required to serve in a particular location through a compulsory service bond after completing the degree.

Clinical training takes place in a tertiary care hospital that sees more than 3,962 OPD patients per day. This volume gives MBBS and MD students experience across several specialties. Patients travel to the hospital from Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha.

AIIMS Raipur Rankings

AIIMS Raipur moved upward in the National Institutional Ranking Framework medical category. It reached 31st place in 2025 with a score of 58.44, compared with rank 38 in 2024. The rise reflects changes in research output, clinical performance measures, and outreach indicators.

The institute does not take part in international systems such as the QS or Times Higher Education rankings, which is also the case for most Indian government medical institutions. Students and the medical education community mainly use its NIRF Medical position to judge its national standing.

AIIMS Raipur Campus and Infrastructure

The integrated 103.63-acre complex on Great Eastern Road in Tatibandh contains the medical college, teaching hospital, student accommodation, faculty housing, and supporting facilities.

The hospital has approval for 960 beds distributed among general and private wards, intensive care units, emergency departments, and modular operation theatres. AIIMS Raipur has carried out major procedures, including its first open heart surgery. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has awarded the institute the Kayakalp Award twice for its hospital hygiene and cleanliness standards.

Students have access to smart classrooms, basic science and clinical research laboratories, and a central library with an e-library, digital services, and NPTEL integration. Separate hostels for male and female students charge up to INR 15,100 each year. Other services include sports facilities, round-the-clock ambulances, and a telemedicine centre linked to remote healthcare facilities across Chhattisgarh.

AIIMS Raipur Scholarships

Because tuition charges are already highly subsidised, financial support mainly comes through government schemes for reserved categories and merit-linked awards instead of conventional institutional scholarships.

The INR 26,300 monthly payment made to MBBS interns is a performance incentive rather than a scholarship. MD and MS students also receive monthly stipends under MCI and NMC rules to help meet their living costs during postgraduate training.

AIIMS Raipur vs AIIMS Bhopal vs AIIMS Jodhpur

AIIMS Raipur, AIIMS Bhopal, and AIIMS Jodhpur belong to the second generation of AIIMS institutions created in 2012 through PMSSY. Their programme structures and fee patterns are alike, but they differ in location, research work, clinical exposure, and movement in the NIRF rankings.

With a 2025 NIRF Medical rank of 31, AIIMS Raipur is placed above several recently established AIIMS institutions in central and eastern India. AIIMS Bhopal has a larger established faculty base and serves Madhya Pradesh and central India, while AIIMS Jodhpur draws on Rajasthan's larger patient population. All three usually admit students from similarly high NEET percentiles. Recent General-category closing ranks have differed by 100 to 400 positions.
