AIIMS PhD Admission process has been revised and AIIMS has replaced Interview-Based Selection with an objective exam. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) ishas decided a significant change in its PhD selection process by eliminating interviews at all stages. Instead, the selection will be solely based on a written examination. This proposed step aims to enhance transparency in the selection process and ensure fair evaluation of candidates for the PhD program. By removing the interview component, AIIMS seeks to create a more objective and merit-based system that aligns with its commitment to providing equal opportunities for all aspiring candidates.

The Director of AIIMS New Delhi has implemented reforms in the selection process for PhD Admission and Institute Fellowship awards, according to a press release issued on Tuesday. According to the new reform, The Director of AIIMS New Delhi, expressed their satisfaction with the changes, stating that these reforms will act as a catalyst for promoting high-quality research.

The institute expects these changes to lead to a notable improvement in research standing of AIIMS New Delhi, as per the NIRF rankings. The reforms aim to create a more efficient and effective system for identifying talented researchers and promoting excellence in research endeavors at AIIMS.

A budget of Rs 200 crore has also been allocated for the creation of 40–50 PhD Institute Fellowships, aligning with the esteemed Prime Minister's Research Fellows program. The relevant authorities must approve a separate budget of Rs 200 crore for this purpose.

A PhD entrance examination would be held biannually at various locations in the country along with a DM/MCh entrance examination, according to the memorandum, without any interview at any stage. "The academic section has been requested to examine the same and initiate appropriate agendas for further deliberations in the Staff Council, Academic Committee, Standing Finance Committee, to ensure an early implementation of these proposed reforms," it stated.
