Osmania University Admission Dates 2026

Osmania University uses Telangana entrance tests for admission to its main courses in the 2026-27 session. BE, B.Tech, and B.Pharm admissions are through TS EAMCET, MBA and MCA through TS ICET, law courses through TS LAWCET or TS PGLCET, and several PG courses through TG CPGET.

Osmania University Courses and Fees

Osmania University has more than 350 programmes at UG, PG, integrated, diploma, and doctoral levels. The university keeps many arts, science, law, and professional course fees low compared with several NIRF-ranked institutions. At the postgraduate level, students can also find specialised options such as Geoinformatics, Applied Geochemistry, Astronomy, and Astrophysics. These choices show the university's focus on earth sciences and basic research. The University College of Technology also runs B.Tech courses in applied fields that are not common in many state universities.

Osmania University Admission Process

Osmania University fills seats mainly through entrance exams and counselling. Direct UG admission is not offered by the university. Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) runs the state-level counselling portals for seat allotment.

Engineering UG (BE/B.Tech)

For engineering and pharmacy courses, students need 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and at least 45% marks. Reserved category students need 40%. A valid TS EAMCET score is required.

Admission to top engineering branches at the University College of Engineering (UCE) is highly competitive. For CSE at UCE, general category students usually need a TS EAMCET rank within the top 500 to 2,000.

PG Admissions (MA, M.Sc, M.Tech, M.Ed, MSW)

For MA, M.Sc, M.Tech, M.Ed, and MSW, Osmania University uses TG CPGET, which means Common PG Entrance Test. Students need a relevant bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks. Reserved category students need 45%.

• Appear for the computer-based exam in July
• Check results after they are declared in August
• Join TGCHE web counselling for seat allotment from August to October

M.Tech applicants can also use a valid GATE score. Students admitted through GATE can receive the AICTE stipend during the course.

MBA and MCA Admissions

MBA and MCA seats are filled through TS ICET, which is conducted by TGCHE. MBA applicants must have a graduation degree in any stream with at least 50% marks. MCA applicants need a bachelor's degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects. Counselling is centralised and web-based, and seat allotment usually takes place from August to September.

Law Admissions

For BA.LLB, a 5-year integrated course, students need 10+2 in any stream and a valid TS LAWCET score. For the 3-year LLB, students need graduation in any stream and TS PGLCET. The minimum qualifying mark is 45% for general category students and 40% for reserved category students.

Ph.D. Admissions

Ph.D. admission is based on the Osmania University Research Entrance Test (OU-RET), held twice a year. Applicants need a postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks. Candidates with JRF or NET qualification do not need to take RET and can apply for direct admission if a supervisor is available.

Osmania University Placements

Osmania University placement activity is mainly handled through the University College of Engineering (UCE) and the Department of Business Management (DBM). A central placement cell supports campus drives for these major colleges, and more than 200 companies take part every year.

During the 2025 placement season, the highest engineering package was INR 45 LPA and the average package was INR 10 LPA. For the MBA batch at DBM, the highest package was INR 16 LPA, while the average package stood between INR 6.3 to 8 LPA. Most offers came from IT, analytics, and consulting roles.

Amazon, DE Shaw, Oracle, IBM, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, Deloitte, and ITC have recruited from Osmania University placement drives. Engineering hiring is largely led by the IT sector, while management students are also recruited by FMCG and banking companies. CSE and ECE usually see the strongest placement results, and product-based technology companies generally offer the highest packages.

Osmania University Rankings

Osmania University improved its NIRF performance in 2025. Its University category rank moved from 43 in 2024 to 30 in 2025, and its Overall rank moved from 70 in 2024 to 53 in 2025. The university is also placed 7th among state public universities in India in NIRF 2025. Better research output and faculty-student metrics supported this rise.

Osmania University Scholarships

Students at Osmania University can apply for government and university-linked scholarship support. Many schemes are handled through the Telangana EPASS portal. Eligibility is usually based on caste certificate, family income, and academic record.

Economically weaker students enrolled in postgraduate courses may also use merit-cum-means schemes on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). These schemes are managed centrally by the Ministry of Education.

Osmania University Campus and Infrastructure

Osmania University's main campus is spread across 1,600 acres at Tarnaka in Hyderabad. It is one of the largest university campuses in South India. The campus includes the Arts College building, a heritage structure built in the Indo-Saracenic style and known as one of Hyderabad's architectural landmarks.

The university has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls in its constituent colleges. At the University College of Engineering, four boys hostels named Kinnera, New Kinnera, Ganga, and Swarnamukhi accommodate hundreds of students. Residents are served by 15 messes, and the campus also has a central health centre with trained medical staff.

Sports facilities include courts and grounds for Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Cricket, Football, Basketball, Hockey, and Kho Kho. Students also have access to a gymnasium and a swimming pool. The library system is one of the largest academic collections in the region. The campus also has a central computer centre, language labs, Wi-Fi access across faculties, and research labs in subjects such as Geology, Astrophysics, Biotechnology, and Environmental Science.

Osmania University, Andhra University (AU), and Kakatiya University are major public universities for students from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
