DDU Admission Process
DDU uses state counselling for some courses and its own selection procedure for others. Merit and counselling determine admission to B.Tech, MBBS and BDS, while the management selection process also includes an interview.
B.Tech Admission
B.Tech applicants must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class 12 and secured at least 45% aggregate. The minimum is 40% for reserved categories. They also need a valid GUJCET or JEE Main score.
- Create an account on the ACPC Gujarat portal.
- Wait for the merit list prepared using the GUJCET or JEE Main rank.
- Enter preferred branches and quotas through online choice filling.
- Accept the provisional allotment and pay the required fee.
- Report to the designated centre for document checks.
- Complete the final admission confirmation.
Historically, the GUJCET closing ranks for Computer Engineering and Information Technology have been in the middle range among Gujarat's private universities. Applicants scoring above 60 percentile in JEE Main and more than 80 marks in GUJCET have typically gained admission to preferred B.Tech branches.
MBBS and BDS Admission
ACPUGMEC, short for the Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Educational Courses, Gujarat, manages admission to MBBS and BDS. DDU has 150 MBBS seats. Students need at least 50% marks in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, along with a valid NEET UG score. The historical General Category MBBS closing rank has ranged from 1,00,000 to 2,00,000, depending on the quota.
- Qualify NEET UG and register with ACPUGMEC.
- Choose the preferred institution and programme.
- Receive an allotment according to the ACPUGMEC merit list.
- Submit documents and pay the fee at DDU.
MBA and MCA Admission
For MBA admission, students need a bachelor's degree with 50% marks and a valid CMAT, MAT, CAT or ATMA result. DDU then conducts a group discussion and personal interview. MCA applicants must have studied IT, Computer Science or Mathematics during graduation and possess the required quantitative aptitude.
Other PG and Ph.D. Programmes
M.Tech applicants require a B.Tech degree and a valid GATE score. M.Pharm admission requires B.Pharm and a valid GPAT score. Admission to MDS uses NEET PG, which is conducted by the National Board of Examinations. For Ph.D. entry, DDU holds a university-level entrance examination followed by an interview.

DDU Campus and Infrastructure
The university occupies 42 acres in Nadiad, a mid-sized city in Gujarat's Anand district, 50 km from Ahmedabad. Each faculty has a separate building, and students can use a central library, computing laboratories and a sports complex.
A 650-bed teaching hospital operates with the Faculty of Medical Science. It allows MBBS and BDS students to begin clinical exposure from their first professional year. The Dental Faculty also has clinical operatories equipped with modern dental chairs for training and patient care.
On-campus accommodation is provided separately for boys and girls. DDU also has an IQAC cell, a DDU-SSIP Student Startup and Innovation Programme cell, and a Women's Cell. IEEE, ISTE and department associations organise annual technical festivals and inter-college activities.
DDU Scholarships
Students at DDU may apply for university, Gujarat government and central government scholarship schemes. MYSY, the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavlamban Yojana, is the main option for eligible students who are domiciled in Gujarat.
| Scholarship | Eligibility | Coverage |
|---|---|---|
| MYSY (Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavlamban Yojana) | Gujarat domicile, 10+2 with 80% or higher, and parental income up to INR 6 Lakhs per annum | Government-funded waiver of up to 50% of tuition fees |
| Merit-based Scholarship (DDU internal) | Highest-performing students in the first year of B.Tech | INR 10,000 per year |
| National Scholarship Portal (NSP) schemes | SC, ST, OBC or Minority category, subject to the applicable income rules | Amount varies according to each scheme's guidelines |
MYSY is used by the largest number of DDU scholarship recipients. Students from agricultural and non-salaried households may apply if they also satisfy the regular income conditions. Funds are transferred to the student's bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer mechanism.
DDU vs Nirma University vs CHARUSAT
Students considering private engineering universities in Gujarat often compare DDU with Nirma University in Ahmedabad and Charotar University of Science and Technology, or CHARUSAT, in Changa. Each provides undergraduate engineering education, but DDU also has medical and dental faculties.
| Parameter | DDU, Nadiad | Nirma University, Ahmedabad | CHARUSAT, Changa |
|---|---|---|---|
| Type | State Private University | Deemed University | Private University |
| NIRF 2025 (University) | 151-200 band | 101-150 band | Not ranked separately |
| B.Tech Total Fees | INR 7.36 Lakhs | INR 11-12 Lakhs | INR 6-8 Lakhs |
| B.Tech Highest Package | INR 21 LPA (2025) | INR 35+ LPA | INR 15-20 LPA |
| Medical / Dental Faculty | Yes, with MBBS offering 150 seats and BDS | No | No |
| NAAC Grade | B++ | A+ | A |
| Campus Size | 42 acres, Nadiad | 100 acres, Ahmedabad | 150 acres, Changa |
Nirma University has the stronger NAAC grade, higher placement packages and wider brand visibility, especially among students based in Ahmedabad. DDU's main distinction is that engineering, medical and dental programmes operate on the same campus. CHARUSAT provides a similar range of engineering courses and fees for students from the Anand-Kheda area.
