IIM Bangalore PGP MBA Admission 2027

IIM Bangalore offers the Post Graduate Programme in Management as a two-year residential MBA. For the 2027-29 batch, CAT 2026 is compulsory. The programme has 512 seats, so admission is highly competitive.

IIM Bangalore PGP MBA Eligibility Criteria 2027

Applicants must hold a recognised bachelor’s degree in any stream. The minimum required marks are 50%, while SC, ST, and PwD candidates need 45%. Students in the final year of graduation can also apply.

Any active backlog makes a candidate ineligible. The minimum CAT 2026 percentile needed for Stage 1 shortlisting is shown below. Clearing these cutoffs does not assure a WAT-PI call. For General category candidates, the actual shortlist cutoff is usually above 98 percentile.

IIM Bangalore PGP MBA Selection Criteria 2027

PGP admission at IIM Bangalore is completed in two stages. The first stage creates a Pre-PI composite score. The second stage uses WAT and PI scores along with other components to prepare the final composite score.

• WAT format: Candidates write a note in 30 minutes on socio-political, economic, or business topics. Structure and reasoning are checked.
• PI format: The interview usually lasts 25 to 35 minutes before a panel of 3 to 4 members. It may cover academics, career plans, work experience, and self-awareness.
• Work experience quality: The PI panel gives a quality score from 0.25 to 2.0. This multiplier is applied to the pre-PI work experience score.
• CA, ICWA, and CS qualifications can give up to 10 points under work experience in Stage 1. This becomes 5 at Stage 2.
• Only shortlisted candidates receive the interview call by email. IIM Bangalore does not make a general announcement.

How to Apply for PGP MBA at IIM Bangalore?

1. Complete CAT 2026 registration on the official IIM CAT portal within the deadline.
2. Take CAT 2026 and keep the section-wise scores ready.
3. Fill the IIMB PGP online application form through iimb.ac.in after the portal opens.
4. Upload degree transcripts, identity proof, caste or EWS certificate if applicable, and a bonafide letter if applying as a final-year student.
5. Submit two online reference letters through the IIMB application portal. These are compulsory.
6. Check the IIMB portal for the shortlist and attend WAT and PI at the Bengaluru campus.

Key insight: Academics carry 30% weight in Stage 1 at IIM Bangalore. Since board marks cannot be changed after applying, candidates with uneven academic scores need a strong CAT score. Good work experience can also support the profile.

IIM Bangalore PGPBA Admission 2027

IIM Bangalore runs the Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics as a two-year specialised MBA. The course focuses on data analytics, AI applications, and quantitative decision-making. It has 77 seats and follows the same CAT 2026-based two-stage selection model as PGP. Domestic applicants must appear for CAT, while international applicants may apply with centre-based GMAT or GRE scores.

IIM Bangalore PGPBA Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility rule is the same as PGP. A bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate is required. SC, ST, and PwD candidates need 45%. Final-year students can apply, but candidates with backlogs are not eligible.

PGPBA does not require an engineering, statistics, or mathematics background. Still, candidates from quantitative undergraduate streams may perform better in the QA and DILR parts of CAT, which matter more because of the analytical nature of the programme.

IIM Bangalore PGPBA Selection Criteria

PGPBA uses the same two-stage composite score formula as PGP. Stage 1 and Stage 2 have identical weightages, and the full formula is listed in the PGP selection criteria section.

• For PGPBA shortlisting, CAT performance in QA and DILR receives extra importance.
• International applicants need valid GMAT or GRE scores. The IIMB GMAT code for PGPBA is Q9H-KK-49. The GRE code is 1675.

IIM Bangalore offers the Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management as a one-year full-time residential MBA for experienced professionals. Applicants need a valid GMAT or GRE score and at least 5 years of post-graduation work experience as on March 31, 2027. CAT scores are not accepted for EPGP.

IIM Bangalore EPGP Eligibility Criteria

A bachelor’s degree in any subject is needed with at least 50% aggregate. The required marks are 45% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. Applicants must have at least 5 years of full-time work experience after graduation as on March 31, 2027. Those with more than 12 years of experience may also apply.

• IIMB GMAT code for EPGP is Q9H-KK-84. The GRE code is 1675.
• Online GMAT or GRE scores are not valid. The test must be taken at a centre.

IIM Bangalore EPGP Selection Criteria 2027

EPGP selection is based on the overall profile. IIM Bangalore looks at GMAT or GRE score, academic record, work experience quality, and Statement of Purpose. Shortlisted candidates appear for a Written Ability Test and Personal Interview.

• WAT: A 30-minute writing task checks structured thinking and business reasoning under time pressure.
• PI: The interview is held in person at Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata, or online for candidates outside India. It covers career story, leadership examples, and goals.
• IIM Bangalore does not publish a minimum GMAT score. A higher score can strengthen the profile along with quality work experience.

IIM Bangalore conducts the Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management as a weekend MBA for working professionals. Applicants must have at least 6 years of full-time work experience as on March 31, 2027. The programme accepts CAT, GMAT, GRE, or the IIMB Test. Classes are held on alternate weekends at the IIMB campus in Bengaluru.

IIM Bangalore PGPEM Eligibility Criteria

Applicants need a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate. SC, ST, and PwD candidates need 45%. A minimum of 6 years of full-time post-graduation work experience as on March 31, 2027 is compulsory. The course is meant for mid-career professionals working in managerial or leadership roles.

IIM Bangalore PGPEM Selection Criteria 2027

Shortlisting is done through a composite score based on entrance exam performance, academics, and quality of work experience. Shortlisted candidates attend WAT and PI. The format is similar to PGP and EPGP, but work experience has more importance because the minimum requirement itself is 6 years.

IIM Bangalore PGP MBA vs IIM Ahmedabad PGP vs IIM Calcutta MBA

IIM Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad, and IIM Calcutta are among India’s top MBA institutes. CAT is the entrance test for domestic candidates at all three. Their admission processes differ in the second stage, use of group discussion, and how clearly the weightages are published.

Note: Among the three, IIM Bangalore gives the clearest composite score breakup. Academics form 30% of Stage 1, so board marks are important. IIM Ahmedabad uses an Academic Performance Rating without a fixed published split. IIM Calcutta is the only one among these three that still uses a Group Discussion round.

IIM Bangalore PhD Admission 2027

IIM Bangalore offers a five-year fully funded residential Doctoral Programme. PhD admission is competitive and covers 10 specialisation areas, including Finance and Accounting, Decision Sciences, Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Information Systems.

IIM Bangalore PhD Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need a master’s degree in any discipline with at least 55% aggregate. Applicants with CA, ICWA, or CS qualifications can apply with at least 50% aggregate. Final-year postgraduate students are also eligible to apply.

IIM Bangalore PhD Selection Criteria

The first shortlist considers academic record, research potential, and test scores. Publications can make the application stronger. Shortlisted candidates take a Written Area Test and a Technical Interview. The exact process may differ by specialisation.

• The PhD IIMB Test is online proctored and lasts 2 hours. It has Verbal and Quantitative sections.
• Candidates can apply for up to two specialisation areas. The fee changes based on the number selected.
• The programme is fully funded. All admitted students receive a tuition fee waiver, monthly stipend, subsidised campus housing, research grants, and travel support.
• Foreign nationals are not eligible for fellowship funding.

IIM Bangalore Scholarships and Financial Aid

IIM Bangalore provides need-based financial aid and merit-based scholarships for PGP students. Need-based support is funded through about 20% of the total programme cost.
