IIM Bangalore Admission 2027 for MBA (PGP), PGPBA, PGPEM and EPGP will move forward after the CAT 2026 result for CAT-based courses. MBA admission for the 2027-29 batch depends on CAT 2026 and a two-stage selection process in which the institute first shortlists students for WAT and PI, and then prepares the final merit list after the interview round.
For EPGP, applicants can use a valid GMAT or GRE score. The application fee is INR 5,000 in Round 1 and INR 7,000 in Round 2. PGPEM applicants pay INR 1,500 in each round.
- The pre-PI score is built from six parts: CAT score, Class 10 marks, Class 12 marks, bachelor's degree marks, work experience or professional course, and gender diversity.
- WAT and PI take place on the same day and at the same centre.
- The latest announced PGP intake was 535 students for the 2024-26 batch. The 2027-29 intake will be declared after the admission process ends.
- IIM Bangalore does not provide management quota seats or direct payment seats.
- For PGP shortlisting, the top 10 candidates in the listed CAT, academic and professional-course categories move directly to the PI stage.
- PGP and PGPBA 2027: CAT 2026 will be conducted on Nov 29, 2026.
- EPGP 2027: Round 2 applications are open, and the last date to apply is Nov 25, 2026.

IIM Bangalore MBA Admission 2027
PGP is the 2-year, full-time residential MBA programme at IIM Bangalore. For the 2027-29 batch, students are shortlisted through CAT 2026 first, and the next steps are the institute's Written Ability Test and Personal Interview.
The institute checks CAT 2026 performance, Class 10 and Class 12 scores, bachelor's degree marks, work experience or professional qualification, gender diversity, WAT and PI before final admission.
Eligibility Criteria 2027
- Applicants need a bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks for General, EWS and NC-OBC, or 45% for SC, ST and PwD.
- A valid CAT 2026 score is required.
- Students who have completed CA, CS, ICWA (CMA) or FIAI can apply instead of using a bachelor's degree, if they meet the required percentage rule.
- Students who completed CA, CS, ICWA (CMA) or FIAI directly after 10+2, without a separate bachelor's degree, are also eligible under the same percentage condition.
Professional qualifications
- CA: Chartered Accountancy
- CS: Company Secretary
- ICWA (CMA): Institute of Cost and Works Accountants, now Cost and Management Accountant
- FIAI: Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India
Selection Process 2027
IIM Bangalore follows two stages for PGP selection. In Stage 1, it prepares the WAT-PI shortlist using the pre-PI score. In Stage 2, shortlisted students appear for WAT and PI on the same day and at the same centre. The final offer depends only on the post-PI score.
Stage 1: Shortlisting
A positive raw score in all 3 CAT sections is compulsory. After applying the minimum CAT percentile cut-off, IIM Bangalore calculates a pre-PI composite score out of 100.
Pre-PI Composite Score
| Component | Weight |
|---|---|
| CAT, with VARC 19, DILR 21 and QA 15 | 55 |
| Class 10 Board Score | 10 |
| Class 12 Board Score | 10 |
| Bachelor's Degree Score | 10 |
| Work Experience or Professional Course | 10 |
| Gender Diversity | 5 |
How the score parts are worked out:
- Class 10, Class 12 and bachelor's marks are standardized. If any mark is missing, that part is removed and its weight is shared among the remaining parts.
- Candidates who complete CA, CS or ICWA (CMA) in the final year may get a standardized professional course score instead of a bachelor's score.
- If the candidate also has work experience, the better of the two scores is used.
- Work experience score is calculated as:
- 10 * (months of work experience / 36) for experience up to 36 months. The score is capped at 10 after 36 months.
- Internships, articleship and unpaid work are not included.
- Work experience is counted up to July 2026.
- The top 10 candidates in each of these groups directly qualify for the PI stage:
- Overall CAT score
- Adjusted bachelor's degree score in Commerce, Arts and Science
- Professional course score for CA, ICWA and CS
- Wrong work-experience claims can lead to disqualification and a 3-year ban from applying to any IIM Bangalore programme.
Stage 2: WAT and PI
Shortlisted students write a 30-minute Written Ability Test and then attend the Personal Interview. WAT is checked for content and writing style, while faculty and alumni panels conduct the PI.
Final Post-PI Composite Score
| Component | Weight |
|---|---|
| Personal Interview | 40 |
| CAT, with VARC 8.75, DILR 10 and QA 6.25 | 25 |
| Work Experience or Professional Course | 10 |
| WAT | 10 |
| Class 10 Board Score | 5 |
| Class 12 Board Score | 5 |
| Bachelor's Degree Score | 5 |
| Total | 100 |
IIM Bangalore CAT Cut-off for MBA
The first shortlist uses these minimum CAT cut-offs based on CAT 2025. Candidates called for interview may have actual CAT scores higher than these minimum marks.
| Category | VARC | DILR | QA | Aggregate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| General | 80 | 75 | 75 | 85 |
| NC-OBC | 70 | 65 | 65 | 75 |
| EWS | 70 | 65 | 65 | 75 |
| SC | 65 | 60 | 60 | 70 |
| ST | 55 | 55 | 55 | 65 |
| PWD | 50 | 50 | 50 | 60 |
