Calicut University UG Selection Criteria

- Students can choose up to 20 programmes in priority order from affiliated colleges, centres, and departments through admission.uoc.ac.in.
- A language optional subject in Plus Two gives 20 weightage marks for language programmes.
- Electronics in Plus Two gives 25 weightage marks for electronics-related courses.
- Government and Aided colleges get 3 allotment rounds under UGCAP.
- Self-financing colleges get 2 allotment rounds, and management quota fills the remaining 50% seats.
- If a student does not pay the fee before the deadline, the allotted seat is cancelled automatically.
How is the UG Index Mark Calculated at Calicut University?
Calicut University prepares the UG merit list through the Index Mark. This means the portal checks the student’s qualifying examination marks and adds the course-wise subject weightage fixed by the university. Bonus or grace marks for NCC, NSS, Sports, and similar eligible categories are added wherever the rules allow them.
The university does not follow one common formula for every UG course. Each programme has its own method under the Eligibility & Indexing Rules. Examples include:
- B.Sc Mathematics: Part III marks + Mathematics marks
- B.Sc Physics: Part III marks + Physics marks
- B.Sc Botany: Part III marks + Biology/Botany marks

Compare to nearby colleges my college has the best educational system. The main negative of my college is that there is no proper parking. Calicut University conducts its entrance exam known as CUCAT for several undergraduate and postgraduate courses like Integrated M.A. in Development Science, Integrated M.Sc in Physics or Chemistry, Integrated M.Sc in Bioscience, M.A in various disciplines (like Arabic Language, Economics, English Language and Literature) and other Postgraduate and Undergraduate courses.
CUCAT is generally conducted in offline mode (i.e. in Pen & Paper Mode). The CUCAT entrance exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). For a few specialized courses at Calicut University, subjective questions are also asked in the CUCAT entrance exam.
Once the CUCAT Entrance Exam is conducted successfully, Calicut University declares the final merit list for their various Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses for admission to Calicut University. Selected candidates in the final merit list for a specific course will have to attend the CUCAT counseling session to confirm their seats during the admission procedure at Calicut University.
