DUVASU Mathura Admission Process

BVSc and AH Admission

Selection for BVSc and AH is based on ICAR AIEEA UG, the All India Entrance Examination for Admission used for entry to veterinary colleges across India. ICAR counselling fills 25 per cent of the seats under the All India Quota, while UP State Quota counselling covers the other 75 per cent.

Applicants must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology and secured at least 50% aggregate. The minimum is 45% for SC/ST students. Candidates must be between 17 and 25 years old on 31 December of the admission year. DUVASU has 100 BVSc seats, all of which are filled through the entrance process. There is no direct admission or management quota.

  1. Complete ICAR AIEEA registration through icar.org.in.
  2. Take the ICAR AIEEA UG examination.
  3. Join ICAR All India Quota counselling for 25% of the seats.
  4. Participate in UP State Quota counselling for the remaining 75% of the seats.

BFSc and B.Tech (Dairy Technology)

BFSc seats are also allotted through ICAR AIEEA UG using a similar division between All India and state quotas. For B.Tech Dairy Technology, admission is handled through UP state counselling on the basis of CUET UG or state entrance test scores.

PG and Ph.D. Admissions

Applicants to MVSc and AH, MFSc and M.Tech (Dairy) may be selected through ICAR AIEEA PG, the ICAR JRF-SRF entrance examination or an applicable institutional test. DUVASU conducts university-level tests for its postgraduate biotechnology programmes. Ph.D. applicants must clear the DUVASU entrance test and attend an interview. Candidates who have qualified ICAR JRF/NET do not need to take the Ph.D. entrance test.

DUVASU Mathura Placements and Career Outcomes

Career options for DUVASU graduates include state veterinary services, livestock development agencies, fisheries departments, dairy companies and research organisations. Traditional campus hiring is limited because many veterinary graduates seek government posts through UPPSC or other state veterinary officer examinations.

Placement Note: According to DUVASU's NIRF 2024 submission, 43 per cent of PG students were placed and their median salary was INR 5.75 LPA. The figure covers graduates recorded through campus or directly tracked placement routes. It does not include students who later joined government services through competitive examinations.

DUVASU Mathura Campus and Infrastructure

DUVASU's campus is in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, within the Braj pilgrimage region. Its six constituent units are the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, College of Biotechnology, College of Fisheries Science, College of Dairy Science, Institute of Para Veterinary Science and Go Anusandhan Sansthan.

Go Anusandhan Sansthan is the university's cattle research centre. It studies the development and conservation of indigenous cow breeds and works in gau-vigyan, meaning cattle science. Other university facilities include live animal units, a clinical complex, fisheries pond units, a dairy pilot plant and molecular biology laboratories.

Separate on-campus hostels are provided for boys and girls, with annual charges of up to INR 10,900. The campus can be reached through the Agra-Delhi highway. It is roughly 50 kilometres from Agra and 145 kilometres from New Delhi.

DUVASU Mathura vs LUVAS Hisar vs GADVASU Ludhiana

Students considering veterinary education in North India often assess DUVASU Mathura alongside LUVAS Hisar, formally known as Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, and GADVASU Ludhiana, or Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. These state veterinary universities serve the Gangetic Plain and the wider North Indian agricultural belt. Each offers BVSc and AH through ICAR AIEEA.

DUVASU Mathura FAQs

Ques. Does the Uttar Pradesh government operate DUVASU Mathura?

Ans. Yes. The Government of Uttar Pradesh established DUVASU as a state veterinary university in 2001 through U.P. Act No. 27 of 2001. It became Uttar Pradesh's first veterinary university and India's fourth. DUVASU is recognised by UGC and affiliated with ICAR, while its courses follow the subsidised fee structure set for a state-funded institution.

Ques. How much does the complete BVSc and AH programme at DUVASU cost?

Ans. The total fee for BVSc and AH is INR 1.49 Lakhs. The 5.5-year course consists of 4.5 academic years and a 1-year rotating internship. Its government-funded fee structure places it among the lower-cost BVSc options at state veterinary universities in North India.

Ques. Which selection process is used for DUVASU's BVSc seats?

Ans. Admission depends on ICAR AIEEA UG, which is conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Students need Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 10+2 with at least 50% aggregate and must be between 17 and 25 years old. ICAR All India Quota counselling fills 25 per cent of the seats, and UP State Quota counselling fills the other 75 per cent. DUVASU does not have a management quota.

Ques. What do DUVASU's placement figures show?

Ans. NIRF 2024 data records a PG placement rate of 43 per cent and a median salary of INR 5.75 LPA. Many BVSc graduates do not use the campus route because they prepare for veterinary officer recruitment through UPPSC or state service examinations. Dairy technology graduates find roles with Amul, Mother Dairy, NDDB and state dairy federations, with starting packages of INR 4 to 7 LPA.

Ques. Can students live in hostels at DUVASU?

Ans. Yes. The main Mathura campus has separate hostels for male and female students. The annual hostel fee is up to INR 10,900, and mess facilities are available. Many BVSc students choose campus accommodation because the programme continues for 5.5 years.

Ques. Where can a DUVASU BVSc graduate work?

Ans. Graduates may enter government veterinary services, private clinical practice, livestock farm management or the dairy sector. A Government Veterinary Officer post secured through UPPSC starts at INR 56,100 per month. Students interested in research can apply for ICAR JRF/SRF fellowships, while access to ICAR-IVRI at Izatnagar provides further research placement opportunities.

Ques. What work is carried out by DUVASU's Go Anusandhan Sansthan?

Ans. Go Anusandhan Sansthan is DUVASU's specialist cattle research institute. Its work covers the research, conservation and improvement of indigenous Indian cow breeds. As part of the university's gau-vigyan, or cattle science, mandate, its research includes breed characterisation, the milk quality of indigenous breeds and conservation genetics.

Ques. When is the 2027 DUVASU admission cycle likely to begin?

Ans. The 2027-28 session is expected to begin with ICAR AIEEA UG registration during February to March 2027 through icar.org.in. The examination is typically scheduled for May to June 2027, followed by ICAR All India Quota counselling in July 2027 and UP State Quota counselling from August to September 2027.
