Udai Pratap College Admission Process
UPCEE merit determines admission to most undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Udai Pratap College. The application charge is INR 700 for General and OBC applicants and INR 600 for SC and ST applicants.
UG Programmes: BA, B.Com and B.Sc
Applicants must meet the following course-specific conditions:
- A recognised board must have awarded the applicant a 10+2 or equivalent qualification
- BA requires at least 45% in any stream
- B.Com requires a minimum of 45%, with preference given to applicants who studied Commerce in 10+2
- B.Sc Mathematics requires a minimum aggregate of 55% in PCM
- B.Sc Biology requires a minimum aggregate of 55% in PCB
- B.Sc Agriculture requires 10+2 Science with Biology and at least 50% in aggregate
The UG selection process begins with an online application and payment of the relevant fee. Applicants then take UPCEE. After the merit list is issued, qualified students register for counselling and enter their course preferences. Seats are allotted according to UPCEE merit and category.
B.Ed Programme
Admission to B.Ed is based on the state-level UP B.Ed JEE. Lucknow University conducts this examination for the Uttar Pradesh government. Applicants need a graduation degree with at least 50%; the minimum is 45% for reserved categories. The state nodal authority completes seat allocation through centralised counselling.
PG Programmes: MA, M.Com and M.Sc
A relevant undergraduate degree from a recognised university is required for postgraduate admission. Depending on the subject, the minimum marks range from 45% to 50%. Students first register online and pay the application charge, then take the UPCEE PG entrance examination. A merit-based counselling round decides the final seat allotment.
Ph.D. Programmes
Ph.D. applicants are selected through the UPCEE Research Entrance Test and an appearance before the research supervisory committee. UGC or CSIR NET and JRF qualifications receive extra weight during the interview. Applicants who do not hold NET or JRF qualifications must pass the research entrance test.
Udai Pratap College Placements
Placement activity at Udai Pratap College is limited compared with professional institutions because its main fields are Arts, Science and Commerce. NIRF data for a recent cycle records placements for 45 students from three-year UG courses. Their median package was INR 3.50 LPA, while graduates of two-year PG courses received a median package of INR 4.00 LPA.
| Programme Type | Median Package (NIRF Data) | Typical Career Pathways |
|---|---|---|
| UG, 3-year programmes | INR 3.50 LPA | Civil services, bank recruitment, teaching and private-sector work |
| PG, 2-year programmes | INR 4.00 LPA | Lectureship, government employment, research and industry positions |
Many Arts and Commerce graduates prepare for UP PCS, UPSC, SSC and recruitment examinations conducted by IBPS, SBI and insurance-sector employers. Science and Agriculture graduates commonly move into M.Sc, Ph.D. or research programmes, while some Agriculture students enter state extension services.
B.Ed graduates seek teaching jobs in government schools through UPTET and CTET, as well as positions in private schools. Private-school recruitment mainly depends on the candidates’ own efforts. The college also holds occasional campus drives for B.Com and M.Com students, with participating employers drawn from regional banking, financial services, insurance and accountancy firms.
Udai Pratap College Campus and Infrastructure
Udai Pratap College operates from a 100-acre campus in Narayanpur, northwestern Varanasi. It is one of the larger single-campus autonomous colleges in the Varanasi area. Regular daytime courses and Distance Learning Centre programmes together serve 17,000 students.
The campus has an e-library supported by an integrated catalogue, a sports ground and a working Agriculture Farm. B.Sc and M.Sc Agriculture students use the farm for practical sessions. Departmental laboratories are available for Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Mathematics, while computer laboratories support digital and computational work for B.Com, MA and Science students.
Working students and other learners who cannot attend regular classes can enrol in MGKVP-affiliated programmes through the Distance Learning Centre. The centre follows MGKVP’s distance education framework.
The institution is an Associate Member of the Association of Indian Universities. It also holds NAAC ’A’ Grade accreditation with a CGPA of 3.16, valid through May 2029. Its UGC autonomy was first approved in 1991 and remains extended through 2032-33. This status permits the college to prepare its own syllabi and hold internal examinations separately from MGKVP’s centralised examination timetable.
Udai Pratap College vs DAV PG College vs Harish Chandra PG College
