I attended a group discussion and personal interview as part of the selection process. I chose NIFT Chennai because of the reputation and rankings of the college. It was ranked 4 th in the placements ranking and was near to my home after kannur campus

I chose nift primarily for its strong reputation, the exposure and the connection with strong industries . For the peepers of the written exam i.e. CAT I practiced previous question paper and as for the situation test i practiced design techniques to improve my skills.

Nift is the best place to study about fashion and style...they have limited no. Of students that's why they are able to focus on each and every student... For coming into nift you've test called creative ability test which contain 50% of drawing part and 30% of theoretical studies part like general knowledge maths English...once you qualify this exam there is another exam called situation test where they provide some materials like paper glue and everything and youve to make model based on the question they provide for the exam I joined a coaching class and that ma'am help me Crack all the 2 exams.

The college and the faculty for my department is great. Our faculties are much open minded and open to new ideas. They provide constructive criticism so it's always great to listen and learn from them .

My interest in fashion honestly was behind it all but I have realized that wasn’t just enough and I have learned so much more in this college not only academically but also as a person. The admission process for this is very simple with two levels to clear. The first one is divided into two parts- CAT(creative ability test) AND GAT(general ability test). The former deals with majorly drawing and your creative skills where you get questions based on poster design, product design, etc whereas GAT includes logical reasoning, general knowledge, and basic maths up to 10th grade. This written test is conducted usually around mid-February and you get 5 hrs in total (3 hrs for CAT and 2 hrs for GAT). Once you have cleared this round, you are short-listed for the situation test which is conducted on different Nift campuses. The situation test is more of a hands-on challenge to your space and 3D modeling skills. I joined a coaching for the entrance exam for 2 months during my pre-board.

About Nift's B. FTech program! If you're looking into fashion and have a techie side, this is just it! Nift's reputation speaks for itself and the BFTECH program lives up to its hype! What sold me was the mix of design and tech. I wasn't sure if I could handle both, but the program strikes a great balance tbh. Yes, we do have to write an exam ie the entrance exam but for B. FTech, it's only GAT. It's very generic if you have your basics clear. Current affairs are the key to getting a good rank.
