Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DIPSAR), now functioning as Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU), is a public state university set up by the Government of NCT of Delhi in 1964. It is known as the first pharmaceutical university in India. The institute earlier worked as a department under the University of Delhi and became a separate state university in 2015. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and comes under the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).

DPSRU is placed 19th in India in the NIRF Pharmacy 2025 ranking with a score of 66.24. Its NIRF Pharmacy rank was 16th in 2024.

The university campus is at Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Pushp Vihar, Sector 3, New Delhi. Students can reach the campus through South Delhi metro links and bus routes.

DPSRU runs diploma, UG, PG and doctoral courses in pharmacy and health sciences:

The total B.Pharm fee is INR 3,45,000 for General/OBC/EWS students for four years. For SC/ST/PwD students, the total fee for the same course is INR 1,20,000. The D.Pharm fee is INR 95,000 for two years.

During the 2025 placement season, the highest offer was INR 12 LPA, while the average CTC stood at INR 7.60 LPA. Recruiters visiting the campus include leading pharmaceutical and healthcare companies.

DIPSAR Admission Process

B.Pharm Admission

DPSRU admits B.Pharm students through the Delhi Seat Allocation Authority (DSAA) centralised counselling process for government-quota pharmacy seats in Delhi. Students must pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics, with at least 55% marks. No entrance test is held for B.Pharm, so Class XII merit decides admission.

The DSAA process includes online registration, document checking, choice filling, seat allotment and fee payment. Delhi domicile and non-Delhi students may be considered under separate seat pools. For Delhi General category students, the B.Pharm Class XII cutoff usually stays in the 90% to 95% range, so applicants must track the DSAA merit list closely.

M.Pharm Admission

For M.Pharm, applicants need a valid GPAT score and a B.Pharm degree with at least 55% marks. DPSRU first shortlists students through GPAT rank and then conducts a university interview. The six M.Pharm specialisations are Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Quality Assurance, Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy, and Clinical Research. Because of the university ranking and government fee structure, the M.Pharm GPAT cutoff at DPSRU is competitive in Delhi.

D.Pharm Admission

D.Pharm applicants must have 10+2 with PCB or PCM and at least 50% aggregate. Admission is merit-based through DSAA counselling, similar to B.Pharm. After completing D.Pharm, students can apply for B.Pharm Lateral Entry at DPSRU.

DIPSAR Placements

In the 2025 placement season, DPSRU reported a highest offer of INR 12 LPA and an average CTC of INR 7.60 LPA. Both B.Pharm and M.Pharm students take part in campus placements. Higher offers usually go to M.Pharm students entering Clinical Research, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs roles.

ICICI, INIZIO, Red Health, IQVIA, ARZS and Wings Pharma are among the organisations linked with DPSRU placements. Students also move into clinical research, hospital pharmacy and pharmaceutical manufacturing roles. DIPSAR Campus and Infrastructure

DPSRU is located at Pushp Vihar, Sector 3, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, New Delhi. Students can reach the campus through the Delhi Metro Violet Line using Tughlakabad or Badarpur stations, and by several DTC bus routes from South Delhi and the NCR corridor. The university shifted to its present campus in 1979 from its earlier location.
