Sneak peak into KIMS, Bhubaneswar

What I Liked

college has state of the art infrastructure with canteens and gyms and sports complexes
the faculties are alumnis from best govt colleges of the state and country including AIIMS,AFMC etc

What I didn’t like

the campus overall lacks a serious environment required for studying. its more fun than studies
the faculties sometimes look down upon the students

Placement Experience:

since we are in mbbs there is no issue of placement. all the students get a paid internship in the same hospital for one year , after which everybody appears for neet pg exam based on which they can opt for a suitable pg course of their choice

Remarks:

Admission process is through all india medical counselling based on our marks in NEET UG. the cut off during my time was 430/720 in neet. the trend seems to vary every year depending on the number of aspirants and cut off of every year.

My Life as a MBBS student at the kalinga institution of medical sciences

Course Curriculum Overview:

The teachers here are highly qualified and passed from prestigious government colleges so i chose this college even though everyones teaching is different. Some teachers are good and some are average. The teachers of first year are great and friendly as they are teachers of non clinical subjects and rest of the years have teachers who are professionals as doctors in our college

Remarks:

When i joined the college the college fees was 16 lakhs per year so i was affordable and also my uncle lived here and my cousin brother studies in a college nearby . So i chose this college and the hostel facilities were good . Our hostel room has an attached bathroom and Ac . Our hostels have wifi and Washing machine facilities as well . Washing machine fees are 500 in 6 months

The only honest review

What I Liked

The patient inflow is great and the exposure to patients is also good
The hospital area is very clean and the shops are comparatively nearer from the college.

What I didn’t like

The language barrier is a major problem here as the majority of the patients don’t speak Hindi .

Placement Experience:

Being a doctor only promises a job and our seniors have cracked meet ug in one chance only . Outside India also the recognition of KIMS is great so the chances of job opportunities increases. Kims also comes under top 30 medical colleges of India .

Remarks:

No the admission took place according to the rank secured in NEET UG and KIMS comes under the top 30 best medical colleges in India so it was also a major factor . The patient inflow is great here. The cutoff for the admission changes annually and it depends on the trend of the exam.

KIMS an interesting choice for those who can afford it

What I Liked

The campus is extremely good with a lot to do. Beautiful places to hang around. KIMs faculty is helpful and they allow us ample freedom to grow ourselves
The best thing about this place is that it is ever improving. Every year there is something to look forward to

What I didn’t like

The crowd is extremely irritating. Too many people in one place
Girls hostel is extremely controlling and they tend to be very annoying regarding in-time

Placement Experience:

Being an MBBS student placement is not an issue here. One can easily get into a big hospital after internship. KIMS also offers a lot of scope in research and development. Provides a good starting point for those aspiring to pursue post graduation outside India (USMLE/PLAB)

Remarks:

Im from kolkata therefore bhubaneshwar is extremely close to my place. KIMS has an overall good stand in the medical world.KIMS has a pretty good renowned faculty. In terms of a private medical college there arent many options when you are from kolkata therefore KIMS was a no brainer considering its quality

What I Liked

Infrastructure wise very sound and well developed

Placement Experience:

Very nice job placements and many people from here crack the NEET PG/NeXT exam. I plan to do an MD in surgery after my internship which is 1 year. The internship salary here in my college is around 30000.

Remarks:

I did my admission through NMC counseling by the government of India in July 2023 after I gave my NEET. It is a very nice college with top-notch facilities and faculties. It has been my dream to study MBBS.

Life as a medical student in KIMS

What I Liked

College infrastructure is really developed with high class facilities.
Campus life is great here too since everything you need is available nearby.

Placement Experience:

After you complete mbbs you can do internship and appear for PG exams. Package depends on your quality of work. And salary depends on your experience. The more years you work the more you will start to earn.

Remarks:

As the college is situated in my city i went for it. It’s a really good college academically and social life is great here too. Big campus and all types of facilities are available. Hospital is located just beside the college and all types of big restaurants and your daily necessities are located very nearby. Basically you have to give NEET exam and you can apply here if you atleast score above 350.

What I Liked

Big campus with greenery Excellent learning opportunities
Experienced faculties High patient flow.

What I didn’t like

Less number of holidays and high academic pressure
Lllneeds more improvement in sports facilities.

Placement Experience:

MBBS does not have placements as such but all the students get a high-paying job after graduation. Internships are compulsory at PBMH hospital where interns get a handsome salary and also get to gain experience in the field.

Remarks:

Well-reputed college, Good NIRF Rank, Good patient inflow in the hospital, and Fees comparatively less than other deemed universities. Admission through Neet UG. Counseling only via All India counseling.

Is KIMS the college for you?

What I Liked

Very beautiful campus with a 24/7 library.
Cafeteria and canteen services with everything present.
Hospital attached which helps you have that mbbs feel.

What I didn’t like

The washrooms are an issue currently but there are renovations going on so it is getting better.
The faculty sometimes are too lazy to teach. But happens in every college anyways.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is provided by the NMC. The college in general is very good and maintained. The faculty is amazing, though some are very lazy as in every college. But in general, everything is nice. The fees keep differing. For my batch it was 18.5L. There are management quotas tho.

Remarks:

The college faculty is amazing and the college itself is very renowned and well known. The admission procedure was completely through the counseling process for NEET. The cut-off for the college in my year was 340. The admission is through new marks/rank and the counseling process.
