KIMS Admission Dates 2026

NEET scores determine admission to KIMS. MCC conducts counselling for eligible All India Quota and deemed university seats. The following ongoing and upcoming events apply to the 2026 counselling cycle.

KIMS Courses and Fees

Medical education at KIMS starts with MBBS and extends to MD, MS, DM, M.Ch and B.Sc Allied Health Sciences. Charges differ by course level and subject, with clinical postgraduate branches carrying higher fees than preclinical and paraclinical branches.

Under the NRI quota, MBBS costs INR 36,29,114 per year, or INR 1.82 Crores for 5 years. Every programme also carries a first-year registration charge of INR 75,000.

Anaesthesiology, General Medicine, Dermatology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Pulmonary Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Radiology form the clinical MD group. Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology are the preclinical subjects. The paraclinical group includes Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, and Community Medicine. At the DM level, students can choose Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, or Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology.

KIMS Admission Process

KIMS does not hold a separate entrance examination. Admission depends on the relevant NEET score, academic eligibility and seat allotment through counselling. MCC manages the applicable All India Quota and deemed university counselling process, while institutional seat procedures are handled under KIIT University.

MBBS Admission

• Academic requirement: Applicants must pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects. The required aggregate is 50%, reduced to 40% for SC, ST and OBC applicants.
• Entrance requirement: A valid NEET UG score is compulsory.
• Seat intake: Each batch has 150 NMC-approved seats.
• AIQ route: Applicants register through MCC, add KIMS during choice filling and report to the college if allotted a seat through centralised counselling.
• Deemed quota route: The remaining seats are allotted through the institutional counselling process using NEET UG merit.
• 2025 cutoff position: Across categories and rounds, the NEET UG AIQ closing ranks extended from 1,25,485 to 10,41,649. This range includes General, SC, ST and OBC categories as well as stray vacancy rounds.

MD and MS Admission

• Academic requirement: Students need an MBBS degree and must have completed the rotating internship.
• Entrance requirement: A NEET PG score is mandatory.
• 2025 cutoff position: The closing NEET PG rank for MD General Medicine was 13,330.
• Counselling process: Seat allotment takes place through MCC PG counselling for the applicable AIQ and deemed university seats.

DM and M.Ch Admission

A recognised MD or MS degree in the relevant parent specialty is required for super-specialty admission. MCC conducts the NEET SS counselling process. KIMS offers DM courses in Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, and Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology.

B.Sc Allied Health Sciences Admission

Selection for B.Sc Allied Health Sciences generally uses Class 12 merit in PCB or PCM, depending on the course. Some programmes also require NEET UG under NMC guidelines. Available fields include Medical Laboratory Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, Emergency Medicine Technology, Radiation Technology, and Optometry.

KIMS Placements and Career Outcomes

KIMS uses the usual medical career route instead of conventional campus placement drives. After internship, graduates may enter service, prepare for NEET PG or continue towards super-specialty training. Clinical work at PBMH gives students experience in a high-volume teaching hospital.

Most MBBS graduates from KIMS move towards MD or MS study through NEET PG. PBMH has 2,600 beds and provides experience in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Nephrology, Paediatric Surgery, Neurology and other tertiary specialties. Graduates may also remain on the same campus for an MD or MS programme at KIMS.

Other career routes include government healthcare positions secured through state PSC examinations and employment with private hospitals or corporate hospital groups. Graduates planning to practise overseas may take the USMLE for the USA, PLAB for the UK or AMC examinations for Australia.

KIMS Rankings

The institute stands at #24 in the NIRF Medical ranking for 2025. Its position improved in each of the three listed years, rising from #26 in 2023 to #25 in 2024 and then #24 in 2025.

NIRF assesses institutions through teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. KIIT Deemed-to-be-University, the parent institution of KIMS, has a NAAC A++ grade.

KIMS Scholarships

Annual academic performance determines the merit awards offered by KIMS. The scholarship value is fixed according to a student's position in the batch examinations.

Residents enrolled in MD or MS receive INR 70,000 to INR 75,000 per month, which helps reduce the effective cost of postgraduate study. DM and M.Ch candidates are paid INR 58,000 to INR 62,000 per month. Eligible students can also apply for NMC or central government scholarship schemes.

KIMS Campus and Infrastructure

KIMS occupies part of the 250-acre KIIT University campus in Patia, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The location has road access, a KIMS-KIIT bus service and connectivity to Bhubaneswar airport.

Clinical teaching takes place at Pradyumna Bal Memorial Hospital, an NABH-accredited tertiary care centre with more than 2,600 beds. Its departments include Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Nephrology, Paediatric Surgery, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Oncology, and Emergency Medicine. The hospital's patient volume supports practical exposure for both MBBS and postgraduate students.

Academic facilities include a medical library, anatomy and physiology laboratories, skill labs and a simulation centre. Male and female students have separate hostels, with an annual hostel fee of INR 2,40,000. Sports areas, a student activity centre and a cafeteria are also available on the KIIT campus.

KIMS vs Kasturba Medical College Manipal vs Amrita School of Medicine

KIMS, Kasturba Medical College Manipal and Amrita School of Medicine Kochi are private medical colleges under deemed-to-be universities. All three have NMC approval and appear in the NIRF Medical rankings. Students considering the deemed university admission route may compare their location, fees, hospital size and NEET UG admission position.

KMC Manipal has a longer institutional history and a higher NIRF Medical position. KIMS combines a similar teaching-hospital capacity with access to the wider KIIT campus. Amrita School of Medicine is associated with Kerala's healthcare research setting. KIMS may suit students seeking an eastern India location, while applicants considering all three can compare their AIQ cutoffs and fee structures.
