NCBS Bangalore offers admission to M.Sc and Ph.D. courses at the postgraduate level in the field of Biology. NCBS Bangalore admission is done on the basis of marks obtained in the National level entrance examination. The application process of NCBS generally starts in the month of August, and the list of shortlisted candidates are announced by the end of January. However, the National Entrance Examination is held in December every year.

• For admission in M.Sc. Wildlife Biology and Conservation, there is a separate written test which covers topics on general knowledge, analytical and quantitative skills, wildlife biology and an essay on a conservation issue. To be eligible, candidates should be Indian students with a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in the core subjects
• Ph.D and Integrated Ph.D. admission is based on TIFR Nationwide Entrance Examination (GS) for Biology, which is also called the Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS) followed by interview rounds conducted separately for both the courses.
• To be eligible for admission to integrated Ph.D., candidates should hold Bachelor’s degree in any Basic Science course from a recognized institution whereas for admission to Ph.D., candidates must hold Masters in Basic Science or Bachelors in Applied Science such as M.Sc. (Ag), B.Tech, B.E., B.V.Sc. B. Pharma (4 yrs course), MBBS., BDS. M. Pharma.

• Final admission of candidates depend on the performance in the written test, combined with the information requested in the additional application form followed by interviews.
