SIMS Pune Admission Dates 2027

Admission is underway for the SIMS Pune MBA 2027-29 batch. SNAP 2026 will be held through three test windows in December 2026. The institute plans to conduct Group Exercise and Personal Interaction rounds for shortlisted applicants between January and February 2027.

Applicants must complete SNAP 2026 registration through the official SNAP portal and choose SIMS Pune as a preferred institute. If a candidate takes more than one of the three tests, the best SNAP score is considered for shortlisting. Separate merit lists are prepared for defence and civilian applicants.

SIMS Pune Courses and Fees

Students can choose from a full-time MBA with 5 specialisations, a 2-year Executive MBA and a PhD in Management. MBA tuition follows two fee levels, with Finance and Data Analytics carrying a higher charge than Marketing, Human Resource Management and Operations Management.

Full-time MBA students must take hostel accommodation, which is billed separately. Across two years, hostel charges amount to INR 2,11,800, while mess charges total INR 1,19,600. The complete residential expense is therefore INR 3,31,400. Including tuition and residence, Finance and Data Analytics cost INR 22,24,600. The corresponding total for Marketing, Human Resource Management and Operations Management is INR 17,51,400.

SIMS Pune Admission Process

SIMS Pune admits full-time MBA students through SNAP, followed by institute-level selection rounds. Defence and civilian applicants participate in the same main stages but are assessed through separate merit lists.

MBA Admission for Defence Candidates

The defence community receives 90% of the 300 MBA seats. Eligible applicants include serving members of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, retired officers, and their dependent spouses or children. At document verification, an applicant must provide an applicable service certificate, CSD card or dependent identity document.

A defence applicant must qualify through SNAP and then attend the Group Exercise and Personal Interaction rounds at SIMS Pune. The expected SNAP requirement for this category is lower than the civilian cutoff, although SIMS Pune does not publish an official threshold. Applicants must add SIMS Pune as an institute preference while registering for SNAP.

MBA Admission for Civilian Candidates

Civilian applicants compete through a separate merit list for 30 seats, equal to 10% of the total intake. Based on the 2026-28 admission cycle, the expected requirement is a SNAP percentile of 77 or higher. Applicants must use the SNAP 2026 portal to register and select SIMS Pune as a preferred institute.

The admission stages for defence and civilian applicants are:

• Complete SNAP 2026 registration and add SIMS Pune as an institute preference.
• Take SNAP 2026 Test 01, Test 02 or Test 03. The best score from the attempted windows is considered.
• View the SIMS Pune shortlist scheduled for January 2027.
• Attend the GE-PI rounds on the SIMS Pune campus from January to February 2027.
• Check the final merit list expected between February and March 2027.
• Accept the allotted seat by paying the required fee and submitting the documents, including a service certificate for the defence category.

EMBA and PhD Admission

For EMBA admission, applicants need a graduation degree and at least 2 years of professional experience. Selection is completed through an institute-level process. PhD applicants must have a postgraduate degree with 55% aggregate and a valid UGC-NET or JRF score. SIMS Pune then reviews the research proposal and conducts an interview.

SIMS Pune Placements

SIMS Pune reported a highest MBA package of INR 21 LPA for the 2025 placement season. The batch also secured more than 40 Pre-Placement Offers.

The high share of defence candidates gives the MBA cohort a different professional profile from many other business schools. Many defence alumni use the programme to begin second careers in operations, logistics, project management and human resources, where military experience is valued. Recruiters associated with SIMS Pune include Accenture, Google, ICICI Bank, KPMG, Oracle, Deloitte, Coca-Cola, Axis Bank and EY. SIMS Pune Rankings

In the national NIRF Management ranking for 2025, SIMS Pune secured Rank 44. This result places it in the middle group of ranked Indian management institutes, above many stand-alone private business schools but below institutions in the NIRF top 20.

SIMS Pune has a relatively narrow academic portfolio, with one flagship MBA and no independent BBA or other undergraduate programme, and this affects its NIRF profile. Graduation outcomes and the institute's PPO numbers support its Graduation Outcomes parameter. However, the NIRF Perception score does not fully represent the institute's 32-year history or the presence of experienced defence officers in its student group, so the rank reflects only part of its overall value.

SIMS Pune Scholarships

Financial support for enrolled students includes merit-based assistance from Symbiosis International University, links to government scholarship schemes and benefits connected with defence categories. Students may also seek help with education loan paperwork.

Applications for government support must be submitted through the National Scholarship Portal within the stated application period. Symbiosis merit scholarships are normally announced at the beginning of Semester 1 after academic performance has been reviewed during the first few weeks. Nationalised banks may provide education loans covering the full programme fee, including hostel expenses, and SIMS Pune offers documentation support.

SIMS Pune Campus and Infrastructure

SIMS Pune is based at the Symbiosis International University Knowledge Village in Khadki, also known as Kirkee, Pune. Several constituent institutes of Symbiosis share this campus. Khadki is a Pune cantonment area with a long association with the Army, matching the institute's focus on the defence community.

Every full-time MBA student must live in an on-campus hostel. Separate accommodation is available for men and women, and each room houses 3 to 4 students. The mess provides breakfast, lunch and dinner, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices. Combined hostel and mess charges are INR 1,65,700 per year.

Academic facilities include dedicated classrooms, a computer laboratory, a seminar hall and a library connected to SIU's wider collection of physical and digital resources. Students can also use sports facilities and shared SIU services such as the central library, health centre and on-campus banking facilities.

SIMS Pune vs SIIB Pune vs SITM Pune

Students taking SNAP may compare SIMS Pune with the Symbiosis Institute of International Business, Pune, and the Symbiosis Institute of Telecom Management, Pune. All three are constituent institutes of Symbiosis, use SNAP for MBA admission, fall within the NIRF 40 to 60 range and have similar fee bands.

SIMS Pune differs most clearly through its defence-oriented student group and suits defence-background applicants as well as students who want to study alongside people with military leadership experience. SIIB Pune concentrates on international business, foreign trade and energy-sector careers. SITM Pune focuses on telecom, IT services and digital media. Civilian candidates considering SIMS Pune compete for only 30 seats, so their competition is greater than the overall intake of 300 may suggest.
