MUHS Admission Dates 2026

Admission to MUHS-affiliated colleges is done through centralised counselling handled by DMER Maharashtra and the State CET Cell. MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, and BUMS admission needs NEET UG qualification, while MD/MS/MDS admission needs NEET PG.

For BAMS and BHMS seats, NEET UG scores are used with a separate seat matrix for AYUSH colleges. NEET PG is needed for MD/MS/MDS and PG Diploma admission. MUHS and DMER publish programme-wise admission notices on their portals.

MUHS Courses and Fees

MUHS covers degrees and diplomas in eight health science streams. The fees in the table show government quota fees at private affiliated colleges approved by the State Fee Regulating Authority. Government medical and dental colleges under MUHS have much lower fees fixed by the Maharashtra State Government.

MUHS Admission Process

Admissions to MUHS-affiliated colleges are handled through a centralised system led by DMER Maharashtra and the State CET Cell. MUHS functions as the affiliating and examining university, while counselling and seat allotment are done by the admission authorities.

UG Admission (MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS/BUMS)

Students seeking MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, or BUMS seats must qualify NEET UG. In Maharashtra, 85% of seats are State Quota seats for Maharashtra domicile candidates, and 15% seats come under All India Quota through MCC counselling. State Quota seats are filled through DMER CAP rounds.

• Step 1: Qualify NEET UG. For Maharashtra State Quota, students need Maharashtra domicile or the relevant NRI/institutional category
• Step 2: Register on the DMER Maharashtra portal and upload the required documents
• Step 3: Check the merit list prepared from NEET UG scores
• Step 4: Take part in CAP Round 1, Round 2, and Mop-up Round seat allotment with online choice filling
• Step 5: Visit the allotted college for document verification and fee payment

General category students must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology at 10+2 level with at least 60% aggregate. SC/ST students need 40% aggregate. For Maharashtra State Quota MBBS, the minimum NEET score for General category is the 50th percentile.

Allied Health and Nursing Admissions

BPT, BOT, BASLP, and BPO admission is based on NEET UG scores, with a separate seat matrix for allied health colleges. B.Sc Nursing and GNM admission is done through a state-level common entrance process run by the Maharashtra Nursing Council and DMER. BPMT and B.Sc (Allied Health) admission is based on Class 12 PCB marks through individual college processes under MUHS guidelines.

PG Admissions (MD/MS/MDS)

NEET PG qualification is required for MD and MS admission. MCC PG counselling fills 50% of seats under All India Quota, and DMER Maharashtra fills the remaining 50% State Quota seats. MDS admission also follows NEET PG for government quota. PG Diploma admission is managed at institute level under MUHS rules. General category students need the 50th percentile in NEET PG for MD/MS.

MUHS Cutoffs

MUHS Campus and Infrastructure

Maharashtra University of Health Sciences has its headquarters at Vani Road, Mhasrul, Nashik, Maharashtra. Since MUHS is mainly an affiliating university, its own campus is used for administrative, examination, and regulatory work instead of regular classroom teaching for students. The Nashik campus has examination halls and administrative departments that handle degree and diploma processes for more than 4 Lakh registered students every year across affiliated colleges.

MUHS has regional examination and departmental centres in Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Nagpur, Kolhapur, and Latur. These centres support examination work and regulatory services for nearby affiliated colleges. The university also runs the Institute of Medical Education Technology and Teachers’ Training (IMET-TT) at Nashik for faculty development and health education training programmes. MUHS is an ISO 9001 certified university, showing its standards in administration and examination management. Its affiliated colleges include large teaching hospitals such as B.J. Medical College Pune and Grant Medical College Mumbai, along with district-level government and private colleges that have their own campuses and hospital facilities.

MUHS Scholarships

Students in MUHS-affiliated colleges can apply for scholarships offered by the Maharashtra Government and the Central Government. Some schemes also support health science students under Government of India health workforce development programmes.

MBBS students in government medical colleges pay subsidized fees, and most SC/ST students can get full scholarship coverage. Students admitted to private colleges under government quota may also receive scholarship support that reduces part of the regulated fee. Applications are submitted through the NSP portal or the Maharashtra Scholarship Portal. Nursing students can also apply for PMSS if they meet the ward-of-ex-servicemen condition.

MUHS Career Outcomes

MUHS-affiliated colleges produce more than 10,000 MBBS graduates every year in Maharashtra. Career routes depend on the course and stream. Health science students usually do not depend on regular campus placement drives. Their careers are shaped by licensing, NEET PG progression, government recruitment, and jobs in the private healthcare sector.

MBBS graduates from government medical colleges in Maharashtra have a mandatory rural service bond. The bond requires one year of compulsory posting at a rural or tribal health centre in Maharashtra before original certificates are released for NEET PG registration.

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) appoints medical officers from MUHS-affiliated MBBS graduates for district hospitals, primary health centres, and rural health services. Maharashtra’s large hospital network also employs many MUHS graduates. Private hospital groups in the state hire MBBS, BDS, nursing, and allied health professionals from MUHS-affiliated colleges throughout the year.

Many MUHS MBBS graduates also take the USMLE or PLAB route for international medical practice. Maharashtra has a large pool of private medical colleges, so MUHS alumni include many doctors who move into international medical careers.

MUHS vs Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences vs Kerala University of Health Sciences

Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS, Bangalore), and Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS, Thrissur) are large state statutory health sciences universities. Each one affiliates health science colleges in its own state.

MUHS has the biggest affiliated college network among these three universities and also has the highest NAAC grade, A++. Maharashtra offers more state quota seats because of its larger medical college base, but competition is also high because the state has a large NEET candidate pool. RGUHS covers medical colleges in Karnataka, including several well-known private medical institutions. KUHS is newer, but it manages Kerala’s health science education, which is linked with strong government hospital systems and international healthcare employment routes. All three universities use NEET UG for MBBS admission and follow their respective state counselling systems for state quota seats.
