Grant Government Medical College and Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals (GGMC and JJH) is a public medical college started in 1845 by Jagannath Shankarseth and Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy. It is among Asia's oldest medical colleges. The college is run by the Government of Maharashtra, affiliated with Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, and recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC), New Delhi.

Grant Government Medical College does not take part in the NIRF Medical ranking process at present. In The Week 2025, the college holds #11 among 44 Medical colleges in India and #1 in Mumbai. Service Bond: MBBS graduates from Maharashtra state government medical colleges must complete 1 year of mandatory rural service. Grant Medical College Campus and Infrastructure

GGMC and JJH spread across a 44-acre campus in Byculla, South Mumbai, close to Byculla railway station on the Central and Harbour lines. The campus includes the academic block, laboratories, a library, and five hostel blocks for students and resident doctors. Its older colonial-style buildings stand beside modern clinical facilities.

Sir J.J. Seth GS Medical College (KEM) has a stronger NIRF position and is usually preferred first by AIQ candidates with very high NEET scores.
