AFMC Pune admissions are based on the norms prescribed by the Directorate General Armed Forces Medical Services, Ministry of Defense, and Government of India. Candidates seeking Admission to MBBS must be citizens of India. The candidates must also be unmarried and must have attained 17 Years of age. Aspirants should have qualified NEET UG with merit marks.

AFMC Pune is different from other medical colleges in the country. Here the students come from all parts of the country. No seats are offered in the reservation category. With ragging strictly prohibited, students from all the years bond with each other and stay united.
The first-year students or the medical cadets as they are referred to are given double-sharing hostel rooms. From the second year onwards, they are given single-seaters. Students must follow a strict regimen and be disciplined following the rules and regulations of the college. Some of the basic rules of the college are;
The cadets are then allowed to take a shower, have breakfast, and report to the classes by 8 AM. The morning fitness regimen is discontinued from 2nd year onwards. Students must join extracurricular clubs and pursue their interests and hobbies in the evening. Playing sports or learning music, drama, or painting, AFMC Pune has all the clubs available.
Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, is peaceful with well-maintained gardens, heritage buildings, and modern facilities. Accommodations are provided not only for the students but also for faculty and staff on campus. The campus has demonstration rooms, auditoriums, lecture halls, a gym, a swimming pool, museums, laboratories, and a nursing school to encourage students in academics and extracurricular activities.
Hostel: AFMC Pune hostel accommodation is given as double sharing for the 1st year and from the 2nd year onwards, the students are given single rooms. Each floor has washing machines, hot/cold water fountains, a TV, and geysers in the washrooms. The hostel building is equipped with free wi-fi connectivity. The grills for the first-year student's floor are closed and are closely guarded by guards at night.

Command Hospital: AFMC Pune Command Hospital is one of the biggest hospitals in Pune. With a huge inflow of patients, students get to learn practically during the clinical rotations.
Central Cedet Mess: The central mess provides healthy food while keeping the nutritional needs of the students in mind. The mess offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food menus.
Auditorium: The AFMC Pune auditorium named Dhanvantri can accommodate 1000 people at a time. Academic events, cultural performances, and guest lectures are held in the auditorium.
AFMC Pune students after completing their MBBS final year are posted in Military Command hospitals or major Army Hospitals as Lieutenants, Surgeon Sub-Lieutenants, or Flying Officers.
Payout: Students who do not wish to join the services, must pay the bond amount of INR 65,00,000 and move out of AFMC without pursuing an internship.
Internship: The internship at AFMC Pune is part of the joining commission bond. Interns at AFMC Pune get paid the highest stipend in the country.
Service Commission: If students choose the SSC-Short Service Commission, then they must serve the forces for 7 years. However, if the students opt PC-Permanent Commission, they have to serve the forces for a minimum of 20 years.
Placements: The placement opportunities at AFMC Pune are guaranteed once students get admission. Students get commissioned as Lieutenants after the final year of MBBS, during the internship. After the completion of the internship, the students are given the rank of Captain or its equivalent and posted as RMO (Registered Medical Officer) in various regiments.
