AFMC MBBS Admission 2026

AFMC Pune admits MBBS students after NEET UG shortlisting and its own screening round at Pune. The 2026 intake has 145 civilian cadets and 5 MEA-sponsored foreign students. In 2025, the AFMC merit list had 2,354 candidates for 145 civilian seats, so the admission process is highly competitive.

AFMC Pune MBBS Eligibility Criteria 2026

A student must satisfy academic, age, personal, and physical rules together. These details are checked during the NEET UG registration and AFMC admission process.

Students who cleared 10+2 through a supplementary or compartment attempt cannot apply for AFMC MBBS admission.

AFMC Pune MBBS Selection Criteria 2026

AFMC calls nearly 2,000 students for screening from the NEET merit list. This usually includes 1,600 boys and 400 girls.

• Final merit is decided through a composite score of 250 marks.
• The formula is NEET score out of 720 plus ToELR score out of 80, divided by 4 to make the Written Examination Score out of 200, and then interview marks out of 50 are added.
• PAT is only qualifying. Its marks are not added to the merit score.

As per NEET UG 2025 data, boys generally needed more than 600 marks and girls needed more than 620 marks out of 720 to enter the AFMC screening shortlist. Admission is finally based on the composite score, not NEET rank alone.

Key Insight: Each AFMC MBBS cadet signs a service bond before joining. In 2026, the bond was INR 71 lakh, revised upward each academic year. Students should confirm the amount at afmc.nic.in. The bond applies if a cadet leaves after 7 days of joining or does not complete 7 years of AFMS service after graduation. If a cadet is declared medically unfit during training, the charge is INR 28,166 per week from the date of non-service liability declaration, not the full bond amount.

How to Apply for MBBS at AFMC Pune?

AFMC Pune does not release a separate MBBS application form. After NEET UG results, students register on the MCC/AFMS portal with their NEET UG roll number.

1. Register for NEET UG 2026 conducted by NTA at neet.nta.nic.in and appear for the exam. Pay the NEET application fee during NEET registration.
2. After NEET results, open mcc.nic.in during the AFMS registration window. Enter personal, academic, and NEET roll number details. Upload the photograph and signature.
3. Check the shortlist released by AFMC at afmc.nic.in. It includes nearly 2,000 candidates.
4. If shortlisted, attend screening at AFMC Pune. The stages are ToELR (CBT), PAT, personal interview, and medical examination.
5. AFMC prepares separate final merit lists for boys and girls. Seats are offered by composite score out of 250.
6. Selected students and guardians sign the service bond and joining documents before classes begin.

AFMC MD/MS Admission 2026

AFMC Pune PG admission covers MD, MS, and PG Diploma seats in clinical and paraclinical specialisations. Most seats are taken by serving AFMS officers under Priority-I. Civilian students apply under Priority-V through NEET PG and MCC AFMS counselling.

AFMC Pune MD/MS Eligibility Criteria 2026

Priority-V civilian applicants must meet a strict age rule. They must finish the full PG course before turning 35.

AFMC Pune MD/MS Selection Criteria 2026

AFMS PG allotment follows a fixed priority order. Priority-I serving AFMS officers get seats first. Civilian Priority-V applicants are considered only after higher-priority categories are filled.

• O/o DGAFMS conducts counselling for Priority-I and II candidates after successful registration on the MCC portal.
• MCC conducts counselling for Priority-III, IV, and V candidates.
• Priority-III, IV, and V candidates must register on the MCC portal as per the published schedule and then choose their preferred institute and seats.
• For Priority-V students, allotment is based on NEET PG merit.
• Major PG specialities at AFMC include General Medicine with 22 seats, General Surgery with 21 seats, Anaesthesiology with 15 seats, and Community Medicine with 12 seats.

How to Apply for MD/MS at AFMC Pune?

1. Qualify NEET PG 2026 conducted by the National Board of Examinations with at least the 50th percentile.
2. Go to mcc.nic.in during the AFMS PG counselling period. Register with the NEET PG roll number and qualifying marks.
3. Upload the MBBS degree certificate, internship completion certificate, NEET PG scorecard, and age proof.
4. During choice filling, select AFMC Pune and the preferred specialities. Submit the form before the last date.
5. Civilian Priority-V students sign the service bond of INR 54 lakh to INR 60 lakh and pay the INR 10,000 security deposit before joining.

AFMC vs AIIMS Delhi vs JIPMER: MBBS Admission Comparison

AFMC Pune, AIIMS Delhi, and JIPMER Puducherry are major central government MBBS institutions. Their admission routes are different because AFMC adds screening after NEET, while AIIMS Delhi and JIPMER use NEET rank-based admission.

Note: AFMC is the only one of these three institutions that uses ToELR, psychological evaluation, and interview along with NEET. A high NEET rank alone does not ensure admission to AFMC. Students who do not clear ToELR, interview, or medical examination cannot join, even with a strong NEET score. AIIMS Delhi and JIPMER allot seats only by NEET rank.

AFMC Scholarships 2026

AFMC Pune does not give regular merit-based or need-based scholarships. MBBS cadets instead receive institutional allowances and subsidies during training.
