Sri Venkateswara University’s Directorate of Distance Education (SVU DDE) was established in the year 1995, as per the conventions of UGC. It was started as a full-fledged extension of the correspondence courses, which had been offered by Sri Venkateswara University ever since 1972. It has been approved by the University Grants Commission.

The effort was undertaken to provide education to those who were deprived of the opportunity to attend full-time courses. In fact, the BA and B.Com OUS courses are specifically for those who never had formal education. The institution is affiliated to its parent institution, Sri Venkateswara University, which is ranked 38th by National Institute Ranking Framework.

The institute provides several distance learning courses, which broadly fall under three categories: UG, PG and PG Diplomas. Read on to know about the same in greater detail.

  • Candidates aiming to secure a seat in BA/B.Com OUS are required to appear for BACET, in addition to having received no formal education whatsoever and being of the eligible age.
  • There is no formal qualifying score for the exam.
  • However, as per this year’s results, the lowest score which was declared pass and therefore, eligible, was 56.
  • The exam is organized in select centres in colleges around the state of Andhra Pradesh.
  • The students who are declared pass need to pay the first year’s fees, in order to finalize admission and get the ID card and study material.

SVU DDE Placements

Students joining the distance learning program can get in touch with Sri Venkateswara University’s placement cell in order to work out the prospects of getting placed. It has been reported that the average package offer stood at ₹3.6 LPA. Highest offer was said to be ₹7 LPA.

Notable companies that recruited included Virtua, HCL, Infosys, Birlasoft and United Online. These are primarily driven by the students in the distance MBA course.

SVU DDE Scholarships

Owing to the flexibility provided by distance learning programs, coupled with the low fees, students rarely need to go for scholarships. Thus, SVU DDE does not provide scholarships by itself. However, scholarships can be availed by students belonging to scheduled castes and tribes (SC/ST) or from other backward classes (OBCs). Further, female students, economically weak students and meritorious candidates can avail various government scholarships.

This includes welfare and merit scholarships like:

  • State social welfare scholarships
  • Scholarships for children of deceased government servants
  • State merit scholarships
  • National science talent search scheme scholarship

To avail these, one needs to get in touch with the concerned government authority through their websites/local offices. The requisite documents have to be scanned and submitted for verification, after which these can be utilized.
