AUSDE Important Admission Dates

AUSDE follows one admission window each year for its programmes, linked to the July academic session. The expected opening for the 2027 intake is tentative. Admission notices can be checked on the official AUSDE portal.

AUSDE Courses, Eligibility and Fees

Distance learners at AUSDE can choose from more than 30 programmes, covering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, diplomas and certificates. Compared with equivalent campus courses, the lower fees help working professionals and first-generation learners across Andhra Pradesh access higher education.

MBA students pay INR 12,800 for the first semester and INR 12,300 for each of the other 5 semesters. This brings the fee for the 3-year, 6-semester degree to INR 74,300. The four choices are Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing and General Management.

How to Apply to AUSDE

Selection at AUSDE depends on academic merit, and most programmes do not require an entrance examination. Before applying, students must create a UGC DEB ID through the UGC Distance Education Bureau portal. Applications are accepted through the official AUSDE website and offline at any of its 34 study centres in Andhra Pradesh.

1. Create a UGC DEB ID on the UGC Distance Education Bureau portal.
2. Register through the AUSDE application portal or apply offline at a study centre.
3. Complete DEB ID verification and submit the required documents. For UG admission, these include the 10+2 mark sheet, transfer certificate, identity proof and passport photograph.
4. Pay the applicable programme fee.
5. Complete the study centre allotment stage.

Programme-wise Admission Routes

Undergraduate Entry: BA, B.Com and B.Sc

• The general UG qualification is 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognised board, with any stream accepted. Course-specific conditions are shown in the courses table.
• The merit list uses the applicant's aggregate marks in 10+2.
• Applicants need their 10+2 mark sheet, transfer certificate, identity document and passport photograph.
• The online route moves through registration, DEB ID verification, document upload, fee payment and study centre allotment.

Postgraduate Entry: MA, M.Com, M.Sc and MHRM

• Applicants must hold a relevant bachelor's degree awarded by a recognised university.
• Selection uses the percentage obtained in the qualifying degree.
• Graduates from any discipline may apply for MA in Journalism and Mass Communication.
• For M.Sc in Psychology and M.Sc in Mathematics, the B.Sc specialisation must match the chosen subject.

Requirements for MBA and MCA

• MBA applicants need a bachelor's degree lasting at least 3 years and a minimum of 50% marks. The minimum is 45% for SC, ST, OBC and differently abled applicants.
• MCA applicants must have BCA, B.Sc in Computer Science, or another bachelor's degree with Mathematics as a subject. They also need 50% aggregate marks.
• Qualifying degree percentages determine selection. Neither a group discussion nor an interview forms part of the process.

Entry to Diplomas and Certificates

A relevant undergraduate qualification is needed for PG diplomas. For the Diploma in Music and Certificate Course in Music Production, applicants may qualify through 10+2 or a relevant background. These diploma and certificate courses admit students directly, without competitive selection.

AUSDE Employment and Career Options

Campus recruitment drives are not part of AUSDE's services. Its distance programmes support working people who want higher qualifications, as well as new learners and students unable to attend regular classes. An AUSDE degree has the same value as a regular Andhra University degree for recruitment by government employers, central public sector units and private organisations.

Government and banking examinations are common routes for BA, B.Com and MA graduates. These include APPSC, UPSC, SSC CGL, SBI Clerk and IBPS PO. Science graduates from B.Sc and M.Sc courses also seek school and junior college teaching jobs, take the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), or work as laboratory technicians and data analysts.

Finance, marketing, human resources and operations are typical work areas for distance MBA graduates. They often seek mid-level management positions in small and medium enterprises, banks and government agencies. MCA graduates pursue IT support, software testing and data operations jobs; some also move to campus-based postgraduate courses at regular universities.

AUSDE Parent University Rankings

NIRF ranks Andhra University as an institution rather than assigning AUSDE a separate position. As one of the university's schools, AUSDE falls within its wider academic framework. Andhra University's 2025 NIRF results cover the following categories.

NAAC awarded Andhra University its highest grade, A++, in 2023. This accreditation recognises academic quality across the university's schools, including AUSDE. The university also holds UGC Category I status.

AUSDE Campus Facilities and Study Support

Andhra University's main campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, houses AUSDE's administration and examination operations. Teaching support reaches learners through 34 study centres across the state's districts. This network helps students in rural and semi-urban areas access higher education locally.

Enrolled students receive study materials each semester and attend scheduled face-to-face sessions at their study centres during the academic year. Gyan Vani, the community radio service on FM 106.4 MHz, carries lectures, discussions and other educational programmes for distance learners. The study centres serve as semester-end examination centres, while the main university campus in Visakhapatnam provides central facilities for end-semester assessments of AUSDE students.

Comparing AUSDE, ANU DDE and IGNOU

Acharya Nagarjuna University's Department of Distance Education (ANU DDE) is another Andhra Pradesh-based choice for distance study. IGNOU serves learners nationally as an open university. Students considering these institutions often have similar needs, but the options differ in course range, location coverage and the universities behind them.

Andhra University's longer institutional history, NAAC A++ grade and NIRF University rank of 23 give AUSDE stronger parent-university standing than ANU DDE. IGNOU combines Central University status, national coverage and lower management programme fees. Within Andhra Pradesh, however, AUSDE and ANU provide a denser local study centre network. Students seeking a degree tied to the state, strong state government recognition and nearby study support commonly choose AUSDE or ANU DDE.
