Velammal Medical College and Hospital Research Institute [VMCHRI] was established in 2012 and approved by MCI. This private college is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. It offers students the opportunity to learn courses in medical fields by providing UG and PG courses such as MBBS and MD, MS in multiple specializations. To apply for an MBBS course the candidate has to pass their 10+2 in the science stream and either biology or biotechnology with physics and chemistry is a must. Also, the candidate has to score a minimum of 50% marks, and the minimum marks of the entrance exam of NEET UG are also required. For admission in MD or MS students must complete their graduation degree in MBBS with at least 50% marks, the minimum marks in the entrance exam of NEET PG is also necessary.

VMCHRI offers MD at the postgraduation level in specializations such as Anatomy, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology, General Medicine, Microbiology, Pathology, Paediatrics, Pharmacology, Physiology, Psychiatry, Anaesthesiology, and Radio Diagnosis. The first-year course fees for MBBS are 450,000 for the first year.  The college also provides internships to their students well besides this they offer students to do their practice in a hospital.
