AUCET and APPGCET: Which Exam Applies?

AUCET was Andhra University's postgraduate entrance test, covering science, arts and specified engineering programmes in its archived 2020 admission scheme.

For the PG programmes listed in 2026, Andhra University participates in APPGCET. Sri Venkateswara University conducts APPGCET on behalf of APSCHE.

AUEET and AP PGECET are separate examinations. AUEET covers the university's notified engineering admissions, while AP PGECET is a postgraduate engineering entrance route. The course determines which examination applies.

Andhra University PG Admission Dates 2026

The AU self-support applications closed on 3 October at 5 pm. Counselling was scheduled for 5 October at 11 am at the Directorate of Admissions, Vijayanagar Palace, Pedawaltair, Visakhapatnam.

This September admission notice requires an APPGCET 2026 rank and excludes candidates already admitted through APPGCET 2026 admissions.

Andhra University PG Eligibility

PG applicants need the qualifying undergraduate degree and subjects for their chosen course. Final-year students could take APPGCET, but must pass the degree and produce the required records for admission.

Physics requires both Physics and Mathematics at degree level. Mathematics requires B.A./B.Sc. Mathematics as a main subject. Botany has its own permitted science-subject combinations, so eligibility depends on the complete degree combination.

For M.A. English at AU, the listed route is a non-professional degree with English in Part I or II. Some other participating universities list exceptions for professional-degree holders; those exceptions do not extend to AU.

APPGCET has no general age restriction for PG admission. Scholarship and fee-reimbursement schemes may have separate conditions.

Application Process and Entrance Fee

APPGCET registration is online through the APSCHE CET portal. After payment, applicants complete their academic and personal details, upload the required records and submit the form.

1. Identify the course and corresponding entrance test code.
2. Enter the primary details and number of tests, then pay the required fee.
3. Keep the registration ID for completing the application.
4. Enter the academic, personal and category details; upload the applicable records.
5. Preview the photograph, signature and entries before final submission, then save the application printout.

The fee is charged per test. Two tests cost ₹1,700 at the OC rate, before any applicable late fee. Counselling charges and university tuition are separate.

The 2026 entrance-registration period is over. Payment-status and application-print services remain available for existing applicants.

APPGCET Pattern, Syllabus and Preparation

The standard APPGCET paper has 100 objective questions for 100 marks in 90 minutes, delivered as a computer-based test. Non-language papers use English; language-related postgraduate tests use the respective language.

Each test code has a separate syllabus. A Commerce applicant follows the Commerce paper, while a Physics applicant follows Physical Sciences. Match the course to its test code before choosing preparation material.

APPGCET master papers can be used for a 100-question, 90-minute practice session. Pair each paper with the corresponding answer key; preliminary keys can change after objections.

M.P.Ed. has an additional merit component

Physical Education has a 100-mark theory test plus up to 100 marks for verified sports achievements. Its merit list uses the aggregate out of 200. This is not the scoring structure for the other PG papers.

Hall Ticket, Results and Qualifying Marks

The APPGCET portal provides hall tickets, results and rank cards. The hall ticket carries the subject, session and centre, while the paper-specific rank card is used for admission.

The general qualifying threshold is 35% of the maximum marks. No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for SC/ST candidates for ranking. In a standard 100-mark paper, the general threshold is 35 marks.

Admission closing ranks vary by course, institution, category, local area, seat type and counselling round. A campus regular seat and an affiliated-college self-finance seat can therefore have different closing ranks and fees.

Counselling and Documents for Admission

For regular APPGCET seats, certificate verification and web options come before allotment. Each option identifies a course and college; the seat category also affects the fee.

For the separate September 2026 AU self-support counselling, applicants need:

• APPGCET 2026 hall ticket and rank card
• Provisional certificate or original qualifying degree
• Qualifying-examination marks statement
• Transfer and conduct certificates
• SSC or equivalent date-of-birth evidence
• Four recent passport-size photographs
• Migration certificate for candidates from other universities
• One set of attested copies of these records

Original certificates and the prescribed fee must be ready at counselling. The notice allows no extra time for either. Category claims require the relevant supporting records.

The annexure does not identify these amounts as annual or full-course fees. It separately charges ₹1,000 for registration and processing.

Scholarships are not available for these self-support admissions. Hostel accommodation depends on availability.
