CISCE uses the terms Improvement Examination and Supplementary Examination in the 2027 rules. The option depends on the main result. A student marked Not Qualified and a student who has already qualified do not follow the same rule.
The school enters the candidate. CISCE has not announced the 2027 examination dates or charges.
The page address still uses "compartment exam", but the current CISCE documents use Improvement Examination for candidates who need to qualify and Supplementary Examination for candidates who have already received a pass certificate and want to take subjects again.
A candidate may take the improvement examination in up to two subjects in which 35% was not secured. If the subject has theory and practical parts, the candidate has to appear for both parts. The school enters the candidate online.
A candidate who still does not qualify after the improvement result may take the next main examination under the rules for that year. The 2027 regulations say such a candidate must reappear in all registered subjects when using that next-main-exam option.
A candidate who already has a pass certificate may take a supplementary examination in subjects previously taken, provided CISCE still offers them. The 2027 rules also allow study of an additional subject under the stated school conditions.
| Main result | Option described in the 2027 rules |
|---|---|
| Not Qualified | Improvement Examination in up to two subjects in which 35% was not secured |
| Qualified | Supplementary Examination in earlier subjects that are still offered |
| Wants an additional subject | Study and school-entry conditions given by CISCE apply |
The Head of a CISCE-affiliated school completes the online entry. A candidate cannot submit a public form directly. For a subject with theory and practical parts, both components may be required, so the school should confirm the exact paper list before payment.
CISCE issues the result under the rules of the improvement or supplementary examination. When a result document changes, the earlier document may need to be returned through the school before a replacement is issued.
The main result and recheck steps are explained on the ISC result page.
