MAHE has not released the detailed MET 2027 BTech paper pattern yet. The 2026 paper had 60 questions for 240 marks and lasted 120 minutes. It covered Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English.
The paper had 45 multiple-choice questions and 15 numerical-answer questions. Every correct answer gave four marks. A wrong MCQ lost one mark, while a wrong numerical answer did not reduce the score. MAHE may change these rules for 2027 when it publishes the new pattern.

Is the MET 2027 Exam Pattern Released?
No. MAHE has opened its 2027 admission pages, but the official entrance-exam page still shows the detailed MET paper information for 2026. The BTech programme pages mention MET 2027, but they do not give a new question pattern.
The 2026 format is useful until the new pattern appears. MAHE can still change the duration, subject split, question types, marking or number of attempts for 2027.
MET 2027 Exam Pattern Overview
MET is used for several MAHE programmes, and the paper is not identical for every course. This page covers the BTech paper. The 2026 BTech test was an online, computer-based paper with four subjects and two question formats.

MET Section-Wise Questions and Marks
The BTech document listed on the MAHE MET 2026 syllabus page divided the 60 questions as shown below. Mathematics was the largest section, while English had MCQs only. Physics and Chemistry had the same number of questions and marks.

MCQ and Numerical-Answer Questions in MET
Multiple-Choice Questions
An MCQ provides answer choices and has one correct option. The 2026 BTech paper had 45 MCQs: 15 in Mathematics and 10 each in Physics, Chemistry and English. A correct response earned four marks. A wrong response lost one mark.
Numerical-Answer Questions
A numerical-answer question requires a number instead of an option. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry each had five such questions, making 15 in total. English had none. A correct numerical answer earned four marks, while a wrong or blank numerical answer earned zero.
This difference matters when checking a score. A wrong MCQ changes the total by minus one, but a wrong numerical answer does not.

Score = four marks for each correct answer, minus one mark for each wrong MCQ. Wrong numerical answers and unanswered questions add no marks and carry no penalty.

A score out of 240 is not the same as a counselling rank. MAHE prepares the admission rank separately.
Computer-Based Test, Timing and Slot Booking
The 2026 BTech paper was an online computer-based test. MAHE gave 120 minutes for the full paper and did not set separate time limits for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or English.
Test date and batch were booked through the Online Test Booking System. The MAHE OTBS instructions say that booking was first come, first served and depended on available seats. A booked slot could not be changed. Candidates who did not book a slot could not appear for that test phase.
In 2026, applicants chose preferred test cities in the application. OTBS was then used to book an available date and batch. MAHE has not posted the 2027 slot-booking rules yet.
What Each MET BTech Section Covers
The paper pattern tells how many questions come from each subject. The syllabus tells what can be asked within that subject. It does not promise an equal number of questions from every chapter.
Mathematics
The 2026 syllabus grouped topics under algebra, trigonometry, coordinate geometry, vectors and three-dimensional geometry, calculus, differential equations, probability and statistics. With 20 questions and 80 marks, Mathematics formed the largest part of the BTech paper.
Physics
Physics covered mechanics, properties of matter, heat and thermodynamics, oscillations and waves, electricity and magnetism, optics, modern physics and experimental skills. The section had 10 MCQs and five numerical-answer questions.
Chemistry
Chemistry included physical, inorganic and organic chemistry, along with practical chemistry. Its pattern matched Physics: 10 MCQs, five numerical-answer questions and 60 marks.
English
English covered grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, language use and reading comprehension. All 10 questions were MCQs. The section carried 40 marks and formed part of the final test score; it was not only a qualifying language check.
MET Attempts and Phase 2 Booking
The 2026 BTech rules allowed up to two attempts, but the application date and Phase 1 status decided who could book again in Phase 2. This was not an automatic promise of two tests for every applicant.

The extra fee for a second attempt was Rs. 1,200 in 2026. MAHE has not yet said whether 2027 will use the same two-attempt rule and fee.
