VITMEE 2027 registration is expected to start in November or December 2026. Vellore Institute of Technology has not released the VITMEE 2027 brochure or application dates yet. The tentative dates below follow the 2026 schedule and may change.

VITMEE is the computer-based entrance exam used for admission to selected M.Tech, MCA, M.Sc and M.Des programmes at VIT campuses. The course and campus choices differ by programme, so the degree requirement must be checked before applying.

VITMEE 2027 Dates

The 2027 dates are not out. VIT opened the 2026 M.Tech and M.Des forms on 21 November 2025, while the M.Sc form opened on 1 December 2025. The exam was held on 28 April and 3 May 2026. The table uses the same timing as a tentative guide for 2027.

The final dates will appear on the official VIT admission page and the course application portal.

Courses Covered by VITMEE

VITMEE does not lead to one common pool of seats. The chosen test paper is linked to a particular postgraduate programme. In 2026, the exam was used for M.Tech, MCA, M.Des and selected two-year M.Sc programmes.

VITMEE Eligibility Criteria

VITMEE eligibility changes with the programme. A general graduation percentage does not replace the subject or degree conditions of the selected course. Final-year students were allowed to apply in 2026, but they had to complete the qualifying degree before selection.

M.Tech Eligibility

The 2026 M.Tech admission page required a full-time degree from a recognised university or institute with at least 60% aggregate or first class. VIT also asked for 60% or an equivalent CGPA in Class 10, Class 12 or diploma, and the qualifying degree. Each M.Tech specialisation has its own accepted degree list.

MCA Eligibility

For MCA in 2026, VIT accepted a recognised three-year B.Sc Computer Science, BCA or B.Sc IT degree with at least 60%. Mathematics had to be studied at degree or Class 12 level. Other equivalent degrees needed Computer Science and Mathematics as major subjects, along with an equivalence certificate where required.

M.Sc AI & ML and Data Science Eligibility

For M.Sc Data Science, the 2026 rules accepted relevant degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Physics, Statistics or Data Science, and specified engineering or technology branches. Mathematics was required at degree or Class 12 level. M.Sc AI & ML accepted listed B.Sc computing, mathematics and statistics degrees and BCA, with at least 60%.

M.Des Eligibility

The 2026 M.Des rules accepted a full-time degree in Engineering, Science, Applied Arts, Architecture or Design with at least 60% or first class. Applicants also needed 60% in Class 10 and Class 12. Open University and correspondence degrees were not accepted.

VITMEE Exam Pattern

The 2026 VITMEE was a two-hour computer-based test in English. It had 100 multiple-choice questions worth one mark each. There was no negative marking, and candidates could appear only once.

The technical syllabus changes with the paper selected in the form. For example, an MCA or M.Sc computing paper is not the same as an M.Tech Mechanical or Electronics paper. VIT publishes separate subject-wise syllabi with the application.

VITMEE Application Form and Fee

The VITMEE form is submitted online. In 2026, the application fee was Rs 1,200 and was non-refundable. The process included registration, email and mobile verification, personal and academic details, fee payment, photo and signature upload, document upload and download of the completed form. A printed copy did not have to be sent by post.

The programme choice matters at the form stage because it decides the accepted degree, technical syllabus and available campuses. Applicants using one form for MCA and an eligible M.Sc choice still need to enter choices that match their degree and mathematics background.

Documents Required for VITMEE

The 2026 application asked for a recent photograph, signature, Class 10 and 12 marksheets, and all available semester or year marksheets of the qualifying degree. A provisional or degree certificate was uploaded if already available. SC and ST applicants had to upload the required community certificate.

Final-year students could upload the marksheets available at the time of application. The remaining proof of graduation was needed before admission. An equivalence certificate was required for some MCA degrees with double or triple majors.

VITMEE Admit Card and Test Centre

VIT sends the exam slot and centre booking link to registered candidates. The admit card is generated after this step and carries the allotted test date, time and centre. The list of test cities is published with the VITMEE admission material.

VITMEE Result, Counselling and Seat Allotment

VIT publishes a VITMEE rank after the test. Shortlisted candidates take part in online counselling and enter their preferred programme and campus choices. Seat allotment depends on VITMEE rank, the choices entered and the seats available.

The payment after allotment is different for each programme. In 2026, selected M.Tech and M.Des candidates had to pay an advance fee of Rs 1 lakh within the deadline. MCA candidates had to pay the full tuition fee. Missing the payment deadline meant losing the allotted seat.

Is GATE or CEED Needed for VITMEE?

GATE was not compulsory for M.Tech admission through VITMEE in 2026. A valid GATE or CEED score could matter for the AICTE postgraduate scholarship, but it did not replace the M.Tech VITMEE selection process. Candidates comparing both exams can read the GATE exam details.

M.Des had a separate rule. Candidates with a valid CEED score from one of the accepted years did not have to take VITMEE and received priority in admission.
