Mumbai, 14th July 2023: The ISA student section of NMIMS Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering (MPSTME) has achieved a remarkable feat by receiving the prestigious "Excellence Award" 2023 from ISA USA. With this award, the ISA MPSTME student section is the first in India and Asia Pacific District. Automation and innovation are examples of their exceptional achievements.

ISA, the International Society of Automation, has a system in place to acknowledge outstanding contributions made by individuals and member groups. The Executive Board grants these recognitions based on recommendations from established selection committees. One such recognition is the Student Section Excellence Award, which highlights the exceptional accomplishments of the ISA MPSTME Student Section in furthering the mission of the society

Students in the MPSTME Student Section are recognized for their outstanding achievements and efforts with the Student Section Excellence Award. Students showcased their talent and innovation by organizing competitions and events such as the India Automation Games and ARS Automatika. As a result of these events, students from all over the country were able to collaborate and present solutions that exceeded the set criteria.

Prof. Dattatray Sawant, the Faculty Advisor of ISA MPSTME, has been an influential figure in guiding student leaders towards success. With his vast expertise in automation and control systems, he has played a pivotal role in providing invaluable insights and strategic direction to the student section. Prof. Sawant's guidance ensures that the section's activities align with ISA's mission and objectives. Through his mentorship, he has inspired student leaders to think innovatively and develop initiatives that have a real impact. Moreover, Prof. Sawant's collaborative approach has facilitated strong connections with industry professionals and academic institutions, thereby expanding the student section's network and creating opportunities for growth and learning. 

A remarkable year was had by the ISA MPSTME Student Section, which received well-deserved recognition and achieved significant milestones. As well as winning Best Student Section at PPPA 2023, they also won Best Student Leader Male and Female. While hosting the India Automation, students Adan Amir and Siddharth Bangera earned prestigious scholarships. Additionally, Kartik Devani and Prof. Dattatray Sawant were shortlisted for the prestigious World Automation Games. Another innovative contribution to automation was “Prof. Sawant holds a design patent for the "OMNIDIRECTIONAL SPHERICAL ROBOT."
