Thadomal Shahani Engineering College (TSEC) is a private autonomous engineering institute in Bandra West, Mumbai. Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and Information Technology have the same four-year fee of INR 14.39 Lakhs. The charge for Chemical Engineering and Electronics and Telecom Engineering is INR 10.79 Lakhs, which is INR 3.60 Lakhs lower for an equal four-year duration. Students pay a one-time admission charge along with tuition in Year 1. Only tuition is charged from Year 2 onward.

Both the boys' and girls' hostel facilities charge up to INR 1,20,000 annually.

TSEC Admission Process

Admission to First-Year BE

DTE Maharashtra CAP counselling fills 80% of TSEC's BE seats, while the remaining 20% are offered through the Institute-Level route. Applicants must have a valid MHT-CET or JEE Main result for either route. Class 12 merit by itself does not qualify a student for admission.

  • Applicants must pass Class 12, HSC or an equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The minimum combined score is 45%, reduced to 40% for reserved categories covered by Maharashtra government rules.
  • Students must appear for MHT-CET PCM or JEE Main Paper 1.
  • For CAP admission, students register at cap.dtemaharashtra.gov.in and arrange their preferred colleges and branches in the option form. Seats are allotted by merit, after which the selected student must confirm the seat and report to TSEC.
  • For Institute-Level admission, students apply directly to TSEC after the CAP rounds. A valid MHT-CET or JEE Main score remains compulsory.

General Open applicants need an MHT-CET score in the range of 92.66 to 98.65 percentile, depending on the chosen branch. Demand places Computer Engineering and Information Technology near the upper end of this range. Electronics and Telecom Engineering and Chemical Engineering have lower percentile cutoffs.

BE Lateral Entry through Direct Second Year

A student with a diploma in a relevant engineering field may enter the second year of a TSEC BE programme through DTE Maharashtra's Direct Second Year counselling. The diploma must have been completed with at least 45% marks. Each branch receives DSY seats equal to an additional 10% of its approved intake.

The Training and Placement Cell manages yearly recruitment and focuses mainly on software, information technology and analytics employers from the Mumbai NCR corridor. Of the 491 graduates eligible in 2024-25, 355 secured placements, giving a placement rate of 72%. The NIRF-reported median package was INR 7.60 LPA, and the largest offer reached INR 24.13 LPA.

TSEC Campus and Infrastructure

TSEC operates from Bandra West in Mumbai, with public transport connections to Bandra and BKC stations through the suburban railway and metro networks. Separate engineering blocks serve the college's five departments. DJSCOE and KJ Somaiya have higher NAAC grades, and their main Computer Engineering courses may require slightly higher cutoffs.
