In the Harvard WorldMUN 2023 held in Paris, France in collaboration with CINUP, Paris (Comité Interuniversitaire des Nations Unies de Paris, the organizers of PIMUN), the Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering (MPSTME) of NMIMS University, Mumbai, has set a new standard by winning two Harvard Diplomacy Awards and four Social Venture Challenge (SVC) awards.

In the world of MUNs, Harvard WorldMUN is considered the Olympics. Faculty advisor Dr Nikhil Gala led this five-day conference. It was Dr Nikhil Gala who played a crucial role in mentoring the MPSTME delegation to achieve these remarkable achievements. Jash Damani, B Tech CE 4th Year, and Anuradha Bansal, BTI CE 1st Year, received the Harvard Diplomacy Award.

Anish Sudhan, a third-year B Tech CSE Cybersecurity student, Siddharth Mundada, a second-year MBA Tech Mechanical student, and Anuradha Bansal, a first-year BTI CS student, founded ReFlex. In addition to promoting a circular economy and a sustainable environment, ReFlex is a not-for-profit organization. By repurposing banners and billboards made of flex material for underserved communities, the group engages the youth in this work.

Project Techtile, led by Samyukta Mandampully, a second-year B Tech CSE DS 311 student, aims at providing software training to visually impaired individuals, enabling their upward mobility and advocating for greater digital inclusion. Yash Mudaliyar, a fourth-year B Tech Data Science student, leads Stride, which manufactures artificial limbs using 3D printing. Lightweight, durable, and eco-friendly products that benefit those in need are produced by them.

Shehzeen Khan, a fourth-year B Tech Data Science student, spearheads ASAP India to ensure equitable distribution of healthcare resources. Their role is to bridge the gap between service providers and affected parties, as well as to engage in ancillary activities to improve the quality of life in these communities.

Applicants were scrutinised and critically vetted at every stage of the selection process for membership in the MPSTME delegation, under the careful supervision of Dr. Nikhil Gala. IntraMUN, an in-house MUN organized by MUNSociety MPSTME, attracted more than 300 registrants in the first round. Only award winners and the best performers were shortlisted for the final rounds, where they went through intensive training to prepare themselves for WorldMUN.

"The MPSTME team was the only delegation from India to win at the Olympics of MUN with more than 1500 participants worldwide," said Dean Alka Mahajan of MPSTME NMIMS. Also, the team received a total funding of $15,000 (~ 12 lakh Rupees) awarded to the SVC winners. Our school has always been at the forefront of innovation, making sure that our students get holistic exposure and are nurtured as socially sensitive individuals. Our students are encouraged to come up with innovative but practical ideas that will benefit society in the long run. MPSTME's best practices and this very fact inspire all project ideas."
