NMIMS Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering (MPSTME) has introduced a new Diploma Engineering Programme, a transformative three-year course designed for students who have completed their 10th standard. This program is a significant step in aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and provides a seamless pathway from diploma to degree in engineering.

NMIMS MPSTME has repositioned its renowned 10+6 Dual Degree Programme into a more accessible Diploma program, followed by a smooth transition into a degree program. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is yet to approve the innovative restructuring.

The new Diploma Engineering Programme is designed to be the first step towards leadership in engineering, merging foundational education with cutting-edge technological training. Students will have the opportunity to specialize in one of four key areas: Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, and Computer Engineering. This comprehensive curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the ever-evolving engineering field.

The Mumbai campus will exclusively have a new program that offers 60 seats each in Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science & Engineering. However, the campus will have 180 seats in Computer Engineering. This ensures a focused and dedicated learning environment where students can thrive under the guidance of experienced faculty members.

Regarding the new program, Dr Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS, said, "The launch of the Diploma Engineering Programme is a major step in our ongoing commitment to providing accessible and high-quality education. We are confident that this program will lay a strong foundation for future engineers and equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to lead in their respective fields."

To be eligible for the program, candidates must have a passing degree of class 10 and appear in the SSC examination or its equivalent with at least 70% aggregate marks.

For Maharashtra State Board Candidates: The candidates who have passed the SSC Examination, the aggregate marks shall be the total marks of 5 subjects taken into consideration and mentioned on the Mark sheet.

For ICSE Candidates:

Students seeking admission based on Group 1 & Group 2 subjects only, the aggregate marks shall be the total of marks in any of the 5 subjects from Group 1 & Group 2 where he/she has scored maximum marks.

OR

Students seeking admission based on Group 1, Group 2 & Group 3, aggregate marks shall be the total of all subjects from all groups.

For CBSE Candidates: The aggregate mark means the total of marks obtained by the candidate, including all subjects as declared in the Mark sheet
