From February 24 and 26, 2023, Alliance University hosted the Justice N. Santosh Hegde National Moot Court Competition. More than a hundred students from eleven different states participated in the Competition's thirty-eight (38) registered teams. On February 24, 2023, Alliance University's Pro-Chancellor Mr. Abhay G. Chebbi, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Anubha Singh, and Dean of the Alliance School of Law Dr. Kiran D. Gardner greeted the competitors and wished them well in the competition. After that, we had our preliminary rounds' orientation, researchers' test, random drawing, and memorial gift exchange.

On the evening of February 25th, former Supreme Court of India judge, Solicitor General of India, and Lokayukta for the State of Karnataka, Justice N. Santosh Hegde, gave the opening address. He remarked on how fortunate the law students were to have the opportunity to participate in mock trials before beginning their careers as lawyers. He said the legal field is one of the best out there and can hold its own against others in terms of salary and prestige. He voiced his displeasure with the slow pace of justice and the ineffectiveness of Constitutional institutions. To hasten the resolution of lawsuits, he suggested cutting down on the number of appeals courts. He urged the class to fight for social justice and do their part for the greater good.

The preliminary and quarterfinal rounds were fought with great intensity and intellectual excitement. Alliance School of Law alums came from far and wide to evaluate the competition's early rounds at their alma mater. The semi-final rounds started the following day, judged by Mr. Gaurav Sahay, Partner at Link Legal; Mr. Priyesh Sharma, Assistant Vice-President (Legal), Nucleus Office Parks; and Drs. Sujith Surendran, Sunil George, Shyam V Kishore, and Rajan Varghese, all from the academic community. After a gruelling semi-final round, teams from School of Law, SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur, IFIM Law College, Bengaluru, School of Excellence in Law, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai, and Rajiv Gandhi National Law University, Patiala advanced to the championship round.

Former Karnataka High Court Judge Justice Michael John D'Cunha, Acting Legal Head at Microland and Co-founder at Flywork.io Ms. Roopa Doraswamy, and Professor at Alliance School of Law Dr. Mukul Saxena served as judges for the final round. The finals saw great performances from every all-girls team. They didn't miss a beat in their pursuit of victory, and the judges were impressed by their diligence in research, analysis of the law, and delivery of the case.

At the awards event, Justice D'Cunha expressed his satisfaction with the finalists' level of preparation and assured the audience that the future of the legal profession is in good hands. The winning team was from the School of Law at SASTRA Deemed University, and its members were Mathangi S, Jhanavi M, and Madhumita S. They took home the trophy and a check for Rs. 30,000/-. Yosha M., Chanchal Chaturvedi, and Annu Kumari from IFIM Law College took home the runner-up trophy and cash reward of Rs. 20,000/-. The team from the School of Law at SASTRA Deemed University took home both the Best Memorial and Best Researcher medals, as well as Rs. 10,000 in prize money. School of Excellence in Law, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University students Madhumita S won the prize for Best Researcher, while Sindhanaa Andavan won the award for Best Speech. Dr. Shyam Kishore, Alliance University Associate Dean, gave a closing prayer of appreciation.
