Hyderabad, 3rd July, 2023: Smart city development has been made possible by two brilliant minds at NMIMS University in Hyderabad, S. Pavithra and Trisha Reddy. At the IBSSC 2023 conference in Mumbai, the researchers presented their research paper, "A Technological-Based Lighting System for Easy Life.". Using drones, these first-year students have designed an emergency lighting system that is connected to drones.

When power outages or emergencies occur, a cluster of drones equipped with intelligent lighting modules will illuminate dark areas. Using drones, police stations can receive live video from the drones, improving public safety. Those stranded on highways could also benefit from this innovative invention. An additional use involves the integration of surveillance cameras with smart lighting systems, forming a virtual security network that acts as a deterrent to potential offenders and guarantees a secure environment.

Pavithra and Trisha are 19 years old and currently enrolled in their first year of B.Tech. Students at School of Technology Management & Engineering who studied Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) balanced their academic studies with the demands of their projects. They have inspired their peers and demonstrated the potential of research and innovation. Pavithra and Trisha's success story are now the inspiration source for those who are dreaming big and also who are struggling for excellence.

Throughout this research endeavor, their journey has been a remarkable blend of inspiration and challenges. Despite being first-year students, their commitment and eagerness for knowledge have been exceptional. They demonstrated a meticulous approach, gathering data from reliable sources, carefully selecting references, and effectively interpreting the information. This comprehensive project spanned three months, during which they skillfully managed to balance their academic responsibilities with dedicated research work, often investing extra hours in the evening.

Trisha and Pavithra expressed their gratitude to Dr. Siddhartha Ghosh for mentoring them as well as encouraging their self-learning. Through his guidance, they were empowered to take ownership of their research, encouraging independent exploration and problem-solving. As a result of this approach, they were able to deliver their research paper successfully and with a research-oriented mindset. Scientists and professors appreciated their participation at the IBSSC conference despite being the youngest participants. Various clubs at NMIMS Hyderabad regularly organize activities, including presentations, that contribute to their confidence.

Initially concerned about their education during their first year at NMIMS Hyderabad, Pavitra and Trisha's parents are now proud of their accomplishments and laud the faculty and director for their support.
