TAPMI is a premier management institute of India that offers a two-year full-time MBA. Recently, it launched a new program—MBA in Technology Management because of two prominent reasons:
- As India continues its journey in Digital Transformation, the need for professionals who can skillfully navigate the intersection of technology and business cannot be negated. Global corporations like Microsoft, Google, IBM are perpetually on the lookout for Indian-origin leaders to expand their market reach and influence.
- Moreover, with the advent of AI, data analytics, blockchain and other pioneering technologies, it will become a necessity for Indian managers to quickly adapt and harness the rapid technologies to create a center footing for India’s innovation, market expansion and growth.
The program, an intersection of business and technology, is being launched at TAPMI Bengaluru Campus which began operation in 2022. Bengaluru, also known as the ‘Silicon Valley’ of India provides an apt atmosphere to start a tech-centered program through its booming start-up ecosystem and proximity to industry practitioners. Moreover, TAPMI Bengaluru is setting up technology management labs to foster industry collaboration, where its faculty and research scholars will solve current business problems using the latest technology. This experience will fetch students the chance of internships and attractive placements.
MBA in Technology Management program differs from the traditional MBA in several aspects. The student intake will be focused on students having experience in and passion for technology. Courses that a general MBA student will study as IT electives will be offered as part of the Tech Management core courses. Further, this program allows students to specialize in the new-age areas of Fintech, Health Tech and e-commerce.
The faculty will comprise experienced industry professionals and alumni of prestigious management and technology institutes in India and abroad. About 30% of all tech core courses will be taught by experienced industry practitioners. Course instruction will happen using current commercially used software which is available to students and instructors at the TAPMI and MAHE Labs. The administration intends to set-up labs in the areas of FinTech, SCM, E-Commerce, Healthcare, RPA and Analytics/AI/ML tools.
TAPMI Bengaluru through its MBA Technology Management program will also offer interesting Industry Engagement prospects to its students based on continuous live projects, IT social projects and internships from leading product and consulting companies. In the first year of the MBA Tech Management, students will work on an IT Social Project with NGOs to improve their digital footprint and reach. This will be the first opportunity wherein the student will provide consultation to the client (NGO) to enhance their business prospects using technology. At the end of the first year each student will undergo a 12-week Summer Internship in the tech-sector. Further, TAPMI will allow companies to extend the summer internship engagement into a live project over term IV and term V. The students will have an additional internship opportunity during term VI in the form of winter internship.
Other notable features of the program include Industry Mentorship. Aside from the Industry Faculty and commercially used software tools housed in the lab, each student will have an assigned industry mentor throughout the program. This mentor will advise the students on identifying new areas of growth in the industry and planning their careers. At the moment, the program offers three key specializations: e-Commerce/Retail, Healthcare and FinTech to choose from.
