UCEED 2027 registration with the regular fee closes on October 31, 2026. IIT Bombay will accept late applications until 5:00 PM on November 6, 2026, but candidates will have to pay the additional late fee. The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is used for B.Des admissions at participating institutes, so students planning to apply should complete the form and document uploads before the regular deadline.

The online form is available through the official UCEED website and registration portal. The official schedule lists the exam on January 17, 2027, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon. This article explains the two registration deadlines, fee rules, eligibility, documents, exam timeline and the checks candidates should make before submitting the form.

UCEED 2027 dates and registration deadlines

IIT Bombay opened UCEED 2027 registration on October 1, 2026. The regular-fee window ends on October 31. A late-fee window remains available until November 6 at 5:00 PM, after which the portal will close automatically according to the official registration page.

Last date with late fee November 6, 2026, 5:00 PM
Admit card download starts January 1, 2027, 1:00 PM
UCEED 2027 examination January 17, 2027, 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon

Comments on draft answer key close January 21, 2027, 5:00 PM
Final Part-A answer key January 26, 2027, 5:00 PM
Results March 6, 2027

The official Important Dates page gives a date but no closing time for the regular October 31 window. Candidates should not wait until the final day because the portal, payment gateway or document upload can fail close to a deadline. The late window is clearly stated to close at 5:00 PM on November 6.

UCEED 2027 registration fee and late fee

The fee depends on nationality, category and gender. The fee shown below is the regular registration fee and does not include bank service or processing charges. The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Candidate group Regular fee Late addition after October 31
Indian female candidates, all categories INR 2,000 INR 500
Indian SC, ST and PwD candidates INR 2,000 INR 500
Other Indian candidates INR 4,000 INR 500
Foreign nationals with valid OCI/PIO cards issued before March 4, 2021 INR 2,000 for female/PwD candidates; INR 4,000 for others INR 500
Foreign nationals, including OCI/PIO holders issued on or after March 4, 2021 US$ 200 for SAARC countries; US$ 250 for non-SAARC countries US$ 50

The official fee page separates foreign candidates who hold OCI/PIO cards issued before March 4, 2021 from those covered by the later OCI/PIO rule. Candidates in those groups should use the nationality and card category shown in the registration portal rather than assuming that an Indian fee applies.

Who can appear for UCEED 2027?

All three official eligibility conditions must be met together. Passing one condition does not compensate for missing another.

  • Age: candidates in the OPEN, EWS and OBC-NCL categories must have been born on or after October 1, 2002. The date is October 1, 1997 for SC, ST and PwD candidates.
  • Attempts: a candidate can appear at most twice, and the attempts must be in consecutive years. A UCEED score is valid for one year and the corresponding admission cycle.
  • Class XII: the first appearance in Class XII or an equivalent examination must be in 2026 or 2027. Students from Science, Commerce, Arts and Humanities can appear. Those whose first appearance was in 2025 or earlier are not eligible, subject to the official board-result exception described on the eligibility page.

These are the rules for appearing in the entrance examination. The criteria for applying to a B.Des programme at a particular participating institute can include additional conditions, so clearing the exam does not by itself guarantee admission or a seat.

Documents and application checks before submission

The official registration page says incomplete forms can be rejected and that candidates are responsible for entering correct qualifying-exam and category information. Keep the following files ready before opening the portal:

  • A recent colour photograph showing a clear frontal view, in JPG format.
  • A clear signature image on white paper, in JPG format.
  • Proof of age, such as an SSC certificate, passport or birth certificate, in PDF format.
  • The qualifying-examination certificate if the candidate appeared in 2026, or the prescribed school/board certificate for a candidate appearing in Class XII in 2027.
  • Valid category documents in the prescribed Central Government format for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS or PwD claims, where applicable.
  • The prescribed request and disability documents if a PwD candidate wants a scribe or compensatory time.

Check the name, date of birth, category and qualifying-exam year before payment. The FAQ says the category entered in the database is final and change requests after the last date will not be entertained. If payment fails, the official FAQ directs candidates to contact the UCEED-CEED Office with their registration details rather than submitting a second form without checking the first payment status.

What happens after UCEED 2027 registration?

After the form is submitted, the next immediate milestone is the admit card download window from January 1, 2027 at 1:00 PM. Candidates should check the admit card before the January 8 correction deadline. The exam is a single three-hour session on January 17. IIT Bombay will publish the draft Part-A answer key and responses on January 19 and accept comments until January 21 at 5:00 PM. The final Part-A answer key is scheduled for January 26 at 5:00 PM, followed by shortlisting on February 4 and results on March 6.

The UCEED score is used for B.Des admissions at the participating institutes listed by IIT Bombay, including IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur. The admission form and seat-allotment dates are separate from the examination registration schedule, so a candidate who qualifies must follow the later B.Des admission notice as well.

Action point: submit the application and payment before October 31 if you want to avoid the INR 500 late charge. If you need the late window, finish the form before 5:00 PM on November 6 and keep the payment confirmation and submitted-form record.
