Who can apply for Class VI admission?

For Class VI, a candidate must have passed Class V or be studying in Class V and pass it before admission. Both boys and girls can apply.

The candidate should be 10 to 13 years old as on March 31, 2027. The bulletin defines the eligible birth period as April 1, 2014, to March 31, 2017, with both dates included. Wards of personnel killed in action receive a six-month relaxation in the upper age limit.

Who can apply for Class IX admission?

For Class IX, a candidate must pass Class VIII from a government or recognised school before admission. The required age is 13 to 16 years as on March 31, 2027.

The bulletin gives the eligible Class IX birth period as April 1, 2011, to March 31, 2014, with both dates included. The same six-month upper-age relaxation applies to wards of personnel killed in action.

RMS CET 2026 exam and selection process

The Stage I written test will be held on December 13 for admission to Class VI and Class IX. It will be an OMR-based examination of two hours and 30 minutes. The exact reporting time and centre will be printed on the admit card.

The Class VI paper is based broadly on the Class V standard and is bilingual in English and Hindi. The Class IX paper follows the Class VIII standard and is in English. Passing the written test does not by itself guarantee admission.

Shortlisted candidates must also complete the later medical examination and interview stages. Final admission depends on merit, medical fitness, available vacancies and verification of original eligibility documents by the Rashtriya Military Schools.

What parents should verify before payment

  • Select the correct admission class and candidate category.
  • Check the official birth-date range for the chosen class.
  • Confirm that the educational qualification will be completed before admission.
  • Use the official NTA RMS CET portal rather than a third-party application link.
  • Save the application number, payment receipt and confirmation page.

The five Rashtriya Military Schools are residential schools at Chail, Ajmer, Dholpur, Belgaum and Bengaluru. Admission is for boarders; the schools do not offer a day-scholar option.
