Remarks :

Definitely, IIT Bombay is one of the largest technical institutions in India and is well-reputed for its curriculum and alumni. However It is not easy to get into in also. The one and only way to get into IIT Bombay is through Jee advanced exam followed by jee mains exam. every year 15lac student appear for the jee mains only 2.5 made it to jee Advanced and only around 5k open rank you can secure seat at IIT BOMBAY . which leads to the very low acceptance rate of less then 1%. also student get chance with 12th and 1 year after 12th class for eligible in jee advanced exam .

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose chemical eng. Honesty because it was the best choice for me I got for my Jee rank and also its chemical eng. Curriculums are the best among all IITs. The course curriculum is very relevant to market and industry trends. The faculty here are very experienced and have great knowledge of their field. We have Labs, lectures, and tutorial sessions. The examination is divided generally into four parts [ quiz-1, mid-sem, quiz-2, end-sem]. The difficulties vary from professor to professor and course to course. Sometimes it becomes so difficult that prof needs to announce an open book exam.

Internships Opportunities :

I just entered my second year so I still have not opted for an internship opportunity. You are eligible from the second year onward for internships provided through the placement cell at IIT Bombay. However, most companies don't open for second-year UG students, so students mostly apply for off-campus internships. A good number of students apply for research internships in universities to explore research opportunities. For the third year almost all the students sit for the internship season. In the chemical department core companies like HUL, Unilever, and Basf are the top firms and for the tech and noncore the companies I mentioned above for placement mostly come. If you secure your intern in these top firms they provide a stipend of around 1-2 lacs per month. the average stipend Is around 40k per month.

Placement Experience :

Placement opportunities are nice almost all of the top recruiters come for the campus placements. 4th year students are eligible for the placement. The placement season starts at the beginning of the 7th semester. Consulting firms like Bain, McKinsey, BCG, and Accenture, etc, for Tech companies like Nvidia, Amazon Inc., Microsoft, Adobe, HiLabs, Quadric, google, Sony Japan, Mercedes, abacus A.I., and for finance companies like Grow, axis bank, flow traders, etc. The above are some of the top recruiters that visited the campus. The highest package of last year was around 2.8cr it was in a Quant firm not remembering the name. This year due to the recession and all other things the percentage of people placed is not quite good around 75% of the people placed and others are going for masters or civil services. My plans include getting placement in a Tech company right now I am exploring robotics and computer vision.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The tuition fee is apporximatly 1 lakh per semester mess fees is 22500 /- per sem hostel fee is 15000/- per sem and some small-time charges totaling around 2.7 lacks per annum . However IIT BOMBAY offer number of scholarships for students like category and income based for those who are struggling to pay their tuition fees including merit based scholarships. So money is barely an issue for studying in top colleges like IIT bombay .

Campus Life :

Life here at IIT Bombay is amazing. We have great peers which provides ample opportunities to learn from others. It has a very large central library with a wide variety of books and journals. The total number exceeds 200,000. There are also departmental libraries. As IIT Bombay is the mecca of extracurricular activities there are numerous student-driven clubs, and every day there are lots of cultural. Technical and sports activities and events happening to promote social growth. Also, there are tech teams like a racing team, development, AUV, etc. for robotics and innovation. Lots of fests happen over the year like Mood Indigo ( cultural fest) and Techfest ( technical fest ) which take place in winter vacation time in December. It has one of the largest infrastructures with a lot of greenery and two lakes.

Hostel Facilities :

In my first year, I was in Hostel 16, and now in my second year, I am in Hostel 5. In the first year hostel was very luxurious and in 2nd and 3rd year the parent hostel sometimes felt like a jail(only for rooms food is good here also ). The hostel fee for 1 sem Is 15000/- and for mess fee for 1 sem is around 22500/-. In Mess, you will get food four times a day. Food quality is pretty nice for test wise you will be bored of the same food but nutrition wise it is good. The registration process is very smooth mostly process done online at the reporting time you just have to collect the keys to your room. The hostel and mess prizes are reasonable but if someone finds it hard to afford he or she can take a loan from banks inside the college (SBI AND CANARA)(a very smooth process). Almost 99,9% of students prefer here to stay in the hostel so I do have not much info about rented rooms or pg.

An industry focused learning experience

Placement Experience :

I haven't reached my placement stage yet but from what I have seen the college doesn't wait until the final year to start preparing students. We have coding sessions, skills building workshops and career guidance from the beginning. Seniors also share their experiences which gives us a better idea of what to expect. I feel the college is helping us build the right foundation for internships and placements. At the same time, I think getting a good job also depends on how much effort we put into improving our own skills. So far I feel I am on the right track
