Remarks :

In the beginning, I wanted to pursue Electronics Engineering, and NIT Rourkela is known for its standards in core engineering and core jobs placement. So that was the main reason I joined NIT Rourkela. The good aspects of the college include high academic excellence and research opportunities in core engineering. A good placement cell and alumni network. The baddest aspect of this college is its 85% attendance criteria rule. For example, a certain subject of 3 credits consists of 42 classes in the semester, so the maximum number of classes you can be absent is 6, if it is more than that you will get a grade back in that subject in your result, which means if you are getting A then you will get B. Another bad aspect I can say is its location, it is a comparatively smaller city, so many companies avoid traveling to Rourkela for their placement drives, but it is okay as they can conduct it online too. The admission process is to clear JEE mains, and genuinely get a good rank.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this branch because it is a circuital branch, NIT Rourkela has 4 circuital branches, CSE, ECE, EIE, and EE. The favorable factor for these branches is that they are allowed to sit in the maximum number of companies for placements. In whatever sector be it software, analytics, consulting, core jobs, etc. The faculties are very much qualified and almost every faculty is working on some research project or research paper, you can do an internship under them too. The teaching method is the same as any other college. It depends on faculty to faculty, some try to explain every concept in the syllabus while some just read out the slides. In a semester there is one mid sem and one end sem. The mid-sem is quite easy and end-sem is moderate, but in the end, it all depends upon the faculty who is setting the paper.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes, I did my internship at Accenture, the placement cell brought companies to the college to select students for internships and I was selected by Accenture, other companies that visited our campus were Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Visa, ZS Associates, Wells Fargo, PwC, etc. They had different roles like ai/ml developer, full stack web developer, analytics, consultancy, core, hardware engineering, etc. Additionally the faculties of the college were also offering internships under their research project.

Placement Experience :

There is a placement cell, which is managed by final-year students. They are responsible for bringing companies to the college for internships and placements. So every company has its own eligibility criteria, they all allow different branches and have different CG criteria, the safest CG is to maintain it at 7.5+ and the circuital branches like CSE, ECE, EIE, and EE they are allowed by maximum number of companies, be it software, core, analytics or consulting. There are many big companies which visit like Microsoft giving a package of 52 lpa, oracle 36 lpa, visa 43 lpa, texas instruments 38 lpa, qualcomm 32 lpa. The highest package is made by Microsoft which is 52 lpa, and the average is around 8-9 lpa.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

During my time, the fee for a general candidate was 1 lakh a semester which included 60k tuition fees + 40k hostel and other extra charges like SAC, maintenance, and library. But if you have a family income of 1 lakh-5 lakh per annum then you get a 66% off on your tuition fee, so you have to pay a total of roughly 62k per semester which makes it 1.25 lakhs yearly fee. But if you are an SC/ST student OR your family income is less than 1 lakh per annum, then you don't have to pay the tuition fee at all, you just have to pay for the hostel and extra charges which is roughly 40k per semester, which makes it around 80k per year.

Campus Life :

The campus life is very lively. I really enjoy the time after my classes end here. 4 major fests occur here in a year. NITRutsav is a cultural fest which is held during March. Innovision is a tech fest that is held in November. Vriddhi is a sports fest that occurs during October, and Cosmopolitan is a multi-ethnic fest that is held in January. Adding to these major fests, there are other jolly celebrations and events like Mental Health Week, or Inter-NIT competitions. The library here has a large collection of books, whatever the faculty recommends for the subject that book you can find in the library. There are many clubs in my college, you can find a club for literally any activity be it drama, sports, music, cricket, hockey, basketball, poetry, photography, etc. And the best thing is that it is all run by students themselves.

Hostel Facilities :

You will be automatically allocated to your hostel and hostel room at the time of admission. For boys, you will get a double sharing room and the space in the room is quite manageable. You will be provided a table, a chair, and a bed. Rest you will need to bring yourself. The hostel will have facilities like gym, washing machine, playing area, badminton court, night and day canteens, etc. The mess is average, you can sustain your living if you are dedicated enough to save your money. You get non-veg 5-6 times a week and you will get eggs every day in breakfast.

Review ITER

Placement Experience :

Students are eligible for placements from third year onwards on a condition that the student has good skills and created good projects. Companies are still coming to ITER since July, various companies like Wipro, Xerox, Paytm, Flipkart, DELL, Microsoft, TCS Infosys and various other MNCs and startups come to the campus for placements and also provide pre placement offers. Currently I have no idea about the highest and average packages as per the company and the profiles offered, but I know that the highest package offered in Iter has been 43 lakhs pa and the average package is around 6lacs-8lacs. There are certain criteria set by the college for the students to be eligible to sit in the placement, out of that more than 85% to 90% of eligible students have secured placements. Students also get internships from second year. After I get a degree and if I land a suitable job then it's okay otherwise I will look to get into civil services or defence.

Silicon university review

Placement Experience :

It has average placements. They also provide training for that. You will be eligible from 4th year. They also provide practice schools where the eligibility is 8 cgpa. They also provide training in the 3rd and 4th year. The companies which I know are Infosys Accenture Capgemini Genpact Mindfire solutions Mindtree. Tcs. pwC Deloitte Inovaare Tata Power Cosmovolt Tech Mahindra etc. They mostly provide the packages in the range 3.5-6 lpa ..The average oncampus placement this year was 4.5 lpa and the highest was 14.5 lpa. The 30 lpa shown was off campus. So you can get jobs according to your skills and cgpa . Overally the placement is just average but roi may be better.

Profiles offered are mostly of software engineer and average package is around 600000 per annum . My plan after getting degree is to go into software engineering job .

The Ready College

Placement Experience :

Yes, we do have a placement cell over here and is quite good. Many well-known companies come to recruit their employees, and the companies are quite satisfied over our senior's hard work and smartness. Many companies like Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Delloyd, etc., come to give good placements to the students at the college. I don't know the exact numbers, but the highest package was around 45 lakhs, and the average package was around 5 lakhs per annum. The average percentage of students getting placements is roughly around 70% to 80%. Currently for me, I don't have a solid plan to what to do but you never know some miracle might happen. Just joking, I do have a plan for the near future, but I am little worried about the future that on one before me start that initiative that I have thought about it.
