- A diverse group of people from all over the country come to learn at MIT which really helps in personality development.
- Campus life at MIT is crazy arguably one of the best in India. The campus is always happening and you ll never feel bored whatsoever.
Dislikes
- The weather is really humid in Manipal which is a bit of a problem but not if you take an A/C room.
- You can easily get carried away since there are a lot of distractions.
Remarks :
Firstly, MIT Manipal offers each and everything ranging from proper research facilities to sports and extra circular activities. It provides you world class infrastructure. Another major reason to choose MIT Manipal was because I was getting a course which I really liked that is Information Technology. Unlike IITs, NITs or State Government Colleges there is no reservation at all in MIT which implies all students come only on basis of their marks and are from well-off backgrounds.
Course Curriculum Overview :
From the year 2024-25 MIT has separated the courses for CSE and Non CSE streams (for first year) making it more relevant for the industry. Like most of the colleges in first year we get courses from almost all the departments so that we have a basic idea of general engineering. Second year is when you are introduced to branch specific subjects and third and fourth year are specialization, project, internships. Most of the faculties are doctorates and have a proper grasp in their subject. They provide the necessary PPTs, notes, videos etc. But it is self study which is most important. Professors are quite approachable, if you have any sort of doubt you can just go to their cabin and talk to them. Coming to the exams. In MIT exams are held on an E-pad which is a tablet and you can calibrate it according to your handwriting. There is a 30 mark midsem, 50 mark endsem and 20 mark internals including quizzes and assignments for each theory subject and for labs it depends on lab to lab.
Internships Opportunities :
Since I am in first year, I haven't yet applied for any internships. Companies usually hire for internships from the 5/6th semester. There are a lot of internship opportunities especially in CSE related branches.
Placement Experience :
Most companies have eligibility criteria of about 7-7.5 for placements. More than 250 companies visit the campus including Microsoft, Amazon, Blackrock, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey etc. Companies hire for various roles including consulting also. The highest package last year was 2.19 crore(international) at DoorDash(USA). Average package ranges from 13-18 LPA depending on the branch you are in.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The year wise tuition fees at MIT, Manipal for the CSE Streams is Rs 4,97,000 per annum with Rs 10,000 as caution deposit(refundable). For the core branches it varies from course to course but is upwards of Rs 4,00,000 per annum. MIT Manipal offers 3 major scholarships, details of which are available in the website.
Campus Life :
MIT conducts two fests: TechTatva(odd semester) and Revels(even semester). In both fests various competitions are held on individual and group level. People from other colleges also participate. Another good thing is since there are a lot of other colleges like KMC, TAPMI in Manipal you can always attend and participate in their fests too. There is a huge library with almost all sorts of books. Enough copies of each book are available to issue. It also has self study, group study rooms. Various research journals are also available. Classrooms are well maintained and air conditioned with a capacity of 80-90 students. There are 5 academic blocks and each of them have different types of classrooms. There is a blackboard and projector which the teacher use during classes. Literally any and every sport and club is there in MIT. Surprisingly you may find multiple clubs for the same category as well. There is an indoor sports complex called MARENA which houses everything but is chargeable.
Hostel Facilities :
MIT gives you the privilege to choose hostel according to your preference in the first year. There are triple and double sharing rooms with attached and non attached washrooms. For boys blocks 16 and 17 are considered the best only downside is they are a bit too far(an E-Buggy is available) and for girls block 21 and 22. Rooms can be cleaned on demand through an app. From second year onwards hostels are allotted on the basis of CGPA but its not that tough to get a good room. Pricing(for boys, including mess): Double attached non A/C: 1,41,000 Double attached A/C: 1,75,000 I would highly suggest to go for an A/C room since the weather is very humid in Manipal for the entire year. Coming to mess there are 2 food courts namely FC1 and FC2. FC2 is considered a better one amongst them. Since it is near block 16,17 it offers multiple other private messes including Apoorva, Annapoorna, Adhitya. The menu includes almost everything and also offers Non-Veg which has eggs and chicken.

There are top rated faculties which are present in the college who have pursued MBBS and MD degrees from top colleges and have for an exam to become a professor in this college and the teaching skills are pretty great as they make a topic pretty easy to understand for students

The placement and job opportunities are good in our college. Our college provides us only with UG Courses so most of the students pursue higher education after that. The placements are good in our college. If I talk about internships so they are very good. Our college provides both paid and unpaid internships to students.
