- What I like the most about my college is the exposure I am getting, the network I am able to make with experienced seniors, the faculty, and the knowledge I am getting, which is making me to explore more things and find my interests.
- The campus life is very amazing here. Connectivity to my hometown is encouraging, and also the campus area is very big and many things are within the campus itself, which make it very easy to make the thing accessible
Dislikes
- One thing I dislike about the campus is the academic stress, which makes it very challenging to survive in between such talented people.
- There are total 15 hostels on the campus and the campus is very old. The hostels which also old have no proper renovation or cleanliness.
Remarks :
IIT Kanpur has a strong academic reputation and is consistently ranked among the top engineering institutes in India. The quality of education, research opportunities, and faculty are the key attractions. IIT Kanpur boasts a large, well-equipped campus with state-of-the-art facilities, including laboratories, libraries, sports complexes, and hostels. Academic stress is a little high in the institute as it is a prime institute and the curriculum is a bit challenging. Being surrounded by bright and motivated peers at IIT Kanpur fosters a collaborative learning environment, and academics doesn't seem as stressful. For UG admissions, the JEE Advanced exam is the primary criteria. Candidates need to clear JEE Main and perform well in JEE Adv. For PG admissions, GATE and JAM are common. The cutoff's vary each year based on difficulty in the exam. Clear concepts in physics, chemistry, and math are essential. Practice mock tests and regular practice are a must.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Choosing a course was a difficult thing for me as it is a prime institution and I had some limited options to take. I had a good interest in the robotics part since my Jee preparation, and I was also very fascinated with physics, which motivated me to take mechanical engineering. The faculty at IIT Kanpur are very qualified and experts in their respective fields, often involved in groundbreaking research. This could have been an important consideration for those interested in pursuing research-oriented careers. The exams are held twice in a semester, namely, mid-semester examination and end-semester examination, and quizzes were held before each of the exams. These exams are not that difficult if we are attending the classes regularly and are focused.
Internships Opportunities :
Internships are available from the campus in the 3rd year of a student which lays a foundation for the industry skills and boosts your resume for the placements. Good amount of students get the intership opportunities at the college with a good stipend.
Placement Experience :
For the placements, there is a criteria on your CGPA that is fixed by the participating companies. Generally, a student must have a CGPA > 7.0 for a good job. The top recruiters are Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Intel, Qualcomm, Adobe, Oracle, McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte, Accenture, PwC, EY, Goldmann Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Citi Group, Dutsche Bank, HSBC, Siemens, BHEL, TCS, Schlumberger, ONGC, Flipkart, Zomato, and many more. In 2024-25 placements, a total of more than 1000 offers were made and accepted. Companies offered a highest package of 4 Crores and the average package is nearly 25 lakhs. IIT Kanpur has a placement percentage of 90% which is exceptional. I am planning to have a job after the degree and do an MBA in future.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The year-wise fees are nearly Rs. 250000 for the general and OBC category students, but for other category students there is a fee waiver that is mostly in the tuition fees. For SC and ST students, there is no tuition fee. Currently, I am not having any scholarship as there is eligibility for those like the salary of parents and many more. Campus Life :
Life at IIT Kanpur is a perfect blend of academic rigor, social engagement, and personal growth. There are three festivals in a year, namely, Techriti, which is conducted in March, Antaragni, which is conducted in October, and Udghosh, which is also conducted in October. The library of IIT Kanpur is one of the largest libraries in Asia, and there is a numerous collection of books and journals that gives endless information to the students. The classrooms are fully air-conditioned and modern. Student Gymkhana is a student body representing the overall interests of the students.It organizes a range of events and provides services like accommodation arrangements and organizing festivals. There are many technical clubs that are represented by students. There are many sports facilities on campus that motivate the students to invest in them and reach new heights.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostels on campus are very clean and are maintained regularly by the staff. The food in the hostels is very hygienic and tasty, with a huge variety of items and special items on special occasions. The registration process for the hostels is not necessary as they are allotted by the management, just a registration fees is mandatory to pay and the hostel fees per year is Rs. 50000.

They were no campus place name because I opted for humanity degree and humanities degree comes with no direct placement after UG and it acquires greater and highest studies so right now I am doing my post graduation and the emploibility is very low

The course curriculum is well structured and covers both theoretical and practical knowledge which helps to build a strong foundation for a subject like biomedical. I always had interest in human health and diseases which is why I chose this course. Faculties are always willing to clear doubts as they are well qualified in there particular domain. And overall I feel the course provides a good academic environment for students. there is a academic calendar provided which gets updated time to time and exam are conducted according to this calendar only.

Placement Experience :
Campus placements start from the 7th semester for students, once the University criteria is fulfilled. As B. Tech Biotechnology is a newly introduced course, there is no Branch wise Placement data available for B.Tech Biotechnology as of now but the university does attract companies like Nestlé, Yakult, Dabur, Cognizant, Accenture, Infosys, HCLTech, and so on. The university stated the overall highest package was 60 LPA and the average placement was around 5.4 LPA. My ambition is to pursue a career in Biotechnology in R&D or QA/QC or Biopharmaceutical industry after graduation and enhance my technical knowledge.

Many healthcare companies and hospitals visit for placements and internships. After completing B.Sc Nursing, my plan is to work in a good hospital, gain experience and grow in the healthcare field.
