- I like campus life and fests because it gives us opportunity and exposure other aspects.
- Good thing about hostels is thats boys are allowed in girls hostel and girls are also allowed in boys hostel it 12 am in night.
Dislikes
- Placements in maths department is not good, i will say worst. Students have to apply off campus if they want to placed.
- Although iit provide room to every student but in 1 year 3 students were sharing single room which is not good. iitk need to increase hostels to deal with increasing students.
Remarks :
I appeared for IIT JAM ( joint addmission test for masters) and got AIR 887. This is how i got iit kanpur although my first choice was IIT Delhi as it is near to my home town which is in Haryana but fee of iit delhi for masters is very high so i chose iit kanpur. Also the maths department of iit kanpur is one of the best maths department in India so it was also the reason of choosing iit kanpur and iit kanpur is no so far from my home town. These were the reasons for choosing iit kanpur. I dont think anything is bad about iit kanpur.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I choose MSc because of my high interest in mathematics. Faculties here are well qualified and experienced and most of the faculties have done their PhD and post doc. from well known foreign universities. Language of teaching is only english as the students are from the different parts of india and foreign as well. Teaching method is very good. Talking about exams there are mid term exams and end term exam in a semester. And difficult level is very high as compared to other universities other than IITs. Overall everything is worth doing.
Internships Opportunities :
As there are zero placements from my department (maths department) from last 2 years so therefore only few students apply for internship. From my batch no one has applied for it. MSc maths students have mostly the goal for PhD or assistant professor.
Placement Experience :
Well, iits are known for their placements but as a MSc maths students i say placements are not good in my department. Last year there were zero placements from MSc maths, also this time the chances of placements are very poor. Eligibility is set by the company who come to recruit students generally if a student has 7.5 plus cgpa he or she is eligible for applying. I am one of the students who are not dependent on placement so i will go for phd after my Masters.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
When i joined the college in 2023 my complete fee was 39000 thousand including the tution fee, mess establishment fee and hostle fee also the security fee was also included in 37000 which was 17000 for complete course. Amd my fee for 2nd sem was 24000. So the total yearly fee is 61000 inr. Every year it varies little bit but roughly yearly fee is 60000 inr. As a SC category student i get FBM ( free basic mess ) scholarship every year which is provided by iit kanpur itself for SC and ST category students.
Campus Life :
IITK campus is collosal and it has everything that a college can have. There are 3 big fest organised by iitk viz. Antragini, Udhghosh and Techkriti. Antragini is one of the biggest fest organised by iit kanpur which held in October and Udhghosh is inter iit sportz fest which is held in October few days before Antragini. Techkriti is tech fest held in starting months of year. Library at iitk is one of biggest library in india and every kind of book and journal is there. There are so many sports clubs, dance club and singing clubs are here which provide full exposure to students. IITk student search is website run by students and also the puppy love which is a website activated only is velentine's week . Overall campus life and college life is full of colours.
Hostel Facilities :
Yes i have opted for a hostel, IITs provide hostel room to its every student. It is fixed that if you are taking admission to iit kanpur you are going to get a hostel room either single or in sharing. I am currently in Hall 2 of iit kanpur which has 6 blocks and each block have 30+ rooms. Hostel mess is very good and menu and food quality is top class. Mess menu changes every month and food provided by iitk is considered to be more delicious as compared to other iits.

They were no campus place name because I opted for humanity degree and humanities degree comes with no direct placement after UG and it acquires greater and highest studies so right now I am doing my post graduation and the emploibility is very low

I always had interest in human health and diseases which is why I chose this course. Faculties are always willing to clear doubts as they are well qualified in there particular domain. And overall I feel the course provides a good academic environment for students. there is a academic calendar provided which gets updated time to time and exam are conducted according to this calendar only.

Campus placements start from the 7th semester for students, once the University criteria is fulfilled. As B. Tech Biotechnology is a newly introduced course, there is no Branch wise Placement data available for B.Tech Biotechnology as of now but the university does attract companies like Nestlé, Yakult, Dabur, Cognizant, Accenture, Infosys, HCLTech, and so on. The university stated the overall highest package was 60 LPA and the average placement was around 5.4 LPA. My ambition is to pursue a career in Biotechnology in R&D or QA/QC or Biopharmaceutical industry after graduation and enhance my technical knowledge.
