HBTMC&Cooper Hospital is a govt medical College located in Juhu, Mumbai. Admission is by qualifying NEET UG exam for the UG course &NEET PG for the PG course. The syllabus of NEET UG is physics, chemistry, and biology. Difficulty level is easy to moderate. I prepared by joining Allen. For biology, I read NCERT of 11&12 about 60 times which helped me to remember minute details of biology for the exam. For physics, I only followed the modules given by my coaching and practiced a lot. For physical chemistry, the content given by the coaching institute was enough. For inorganic I focused on NCERT and for organic I understood basic concepts and solved a lot of questions. During the last few months, I solved and analyzed 1 block daily. cutoff 625. Positive- very less fees College has a 24/7 AC library, *wifi for students, * patient load is high which helps in learning about a wide variety of cases *Co-curricular activities Bad aspects include * hostel facilities not adequate * Sports facilities are much less
I always wanted to be a doctor so chose MBBS got through NEET and got admission to HBTMC. The college offers MBBS, PG, and super specialization courses. MBBS is a total of total 5years with 4 years of study and 1 year of internship. There are a total of 19 subjects. All these subjects are very extensive. All the faculties are very experienced with over 20 years of experience, all are highly qualified doctors. Teaching is based on theory and practice. Daily postings in OPD and wards help in understanding the diseases and the treatment procedures. In 1st and 2nd year there are 1st, 2nd terminal, prelims, and final exams whereas in 3rd and 4th years only 1st terminal, prelims, and finals. Exam season is a bit hectic. Fees are extremely low as it is a college. There is a slight increase in tuition fees every year. The tuition fees for reserved categories are zero and general category students with less than 8L also get a scholarship of half of tuition fees.
In the internship year, we have to do an internship of 365 days. We also get a stipend of Rs 18000 per month. In an internship, the intern is posted in different departments for a period of 15 to 30 days and learns and helps other senior doctors of the departments.
Since it's a government college you have to sign a mandatory bond to serve 1year in college as a doctor, in which you can earn around 60K to 70k per month. Every student who has cleared gets to practice.
The campus is small. The college building is newly built. Since the intake of students is from the All India quota and Maharashtra quota is there so students with different cultural backgrounds meet here and vibe together. There are lots of cafes restaurants and clubs around. The college is very near to the famous Juhu beach, so the social life is really good. There are lots of college fests for academics (curiosity) sports (adrenaline) cultural ( arunodaya) from Aug to December. The library is high-tech with a collection of thousands of books in different genres. Classrooms are high-smart classes with AC, big screens, boards, and projectors. The college doesn't have its ground and doesn't have lots of sports facilities. The hostel is decent and doesn't have a mess. The college has two canteens.
I haven't reached my placement stage yet but from what I have seen the college doesn't wait until the final year to start preparing students. We have coding sessions, skills building workshops and career guidance from the beginning. Seniors also share their experiences which gives us a better idea of what to expect. I feel the college is helping us build the right foundation for internships and placements. At the same time, I think getting a good job also depends on how much effort we put into improving our own skills. So far I feel I am on the right track
no placement data is present now but many of students are working on their own projects and few are cracked the internships and now currently serving their period on the companies and it's really great opportunities.
The college does have a placement cell. It provides some in campus placements . Rarely 2% students get in campus placements. Rest have to find jobs pn their own. You wi have to do alot of interships and gain practical skills to be placed
