The admission process was done through the CAP rounds(Mumbai University) and the cutoff when I got admission in the college was around 83%. There was no Group discussion /Interview /written tests /admission, I got the admission in the direct second year on the basis of my Diploma percentile.
I choose mechanical engineering because I have a core interest in automobiles. In my course more than half of the teaching faculty has done there Master and others have a Phd. The teaching method of the faculties is decent and to the point. There are 2 Internal assessment tests, 1 practical test and 1 end semester test that is carried out every semester, that is as per the University rules. The difficulty level of the Internal assessment test is as per the difficulty level of the end semester exam that is set by the University so that students are well prepared for the end sem semester exam through the Internal assessment test. The fee is taken yearly that is for 2 semesters and the fee hike year by year hike is around ?1000-2000. The total fee of the college stays around 147000-151000. Students having an Income less than ?8Lakh and students having an OBC caste certificate can avail of a scholarship of 40% return on the fee and the SC/ST caste certificate holders get a 90-95% fee return.
No I haven't got any internship opportunities with the college but I was part of a student motorsport club in the college which is equivalent to internship and I gained a lot of knowledge in automobile and how to manage a team.
The eligibility criteria for placement depends up the recruiter company. Yokohama, GEAR, Technimont and many more and the no. Of offers made are avg 10-15 as per last academic year and this academic year for the mechanical engineering department. The highest package made this in the academic year 2023-24 is 5.5Lpa,and the average package is 5Lpa. The percentage of students getting placed in the academic year 2023-24 is approx 20%. The SIES GST has a annual fest named as Tatva moksha Lakshya(TML) that is held in the month of January to March which includes sports, Dj night and many more things. The college library has a variety of books and is open from 9AM to 7PM every working day. The classrooms have all the basic things needed and also have projectors. The sports events are held throughout the year by the sports club. The college has various clubs including NSS, Creative club, etc. The college also had a motorsport team named Team TurboCrafters (TTC) up until academic year 2022-23, of which I was a part. The college has no hostel so students looking for a hostel often end up in the PG that is not a part of the college campus of a take a room on rent. I dont stay in a rented room or PG.
I haven't reached my placement stage yet but from what I have seen the college doesn't wait until the final year to start preparing students. We have coding sessions, skills building workshops and career guidance from the beginning. Seniors also share their experiences which gives us a better idea of what to expect. I feel the college is helping us build the right foundation for internships and placements. At the same time, I think getting a good job also depends on how much effort we put into improving our own skills. So far I feel I am on the right track
no placement data is present now but many of students are working on their own projects and few are cracked the internships and now currently serving their period on the companies and it's really great opportunities.
The college does have a placement cell. It provides some in campus placements . Rarely 2% students get in campus placements. Rest have to find jobs pn their own. You wi have to do alot of interships and gain practical skills to be placed
Diffrent companies have different criteria, limited companies comes in campus such as bootcoding Pvt.Ltd , and some small companies arrived. Highest package giving by companies is 4 LPA lowest package is 3LPA and average package is 2.5LPA. about 20% of students got placed. Searching a job after my course computation.
The faculty members are supporting but inexperienced the experienced professionals have left the college long time ago. This is one of the old colleges in Pune. The semesters are generally proactive extracurricular activities are less and are given not much priority .
