I took the entrance to the college via NEET since there's no other factor involved in a medical College and my preference was based on the fact that amongst other deemed colleges in South India the fees was amongst the lowest and it was also close to Bangalore which made travel also very convenient for me to travel to and fro from college and home. As well as the college in general seemed extremely appealing since it's a we'll established college since the 1980s . And the overall ambience of the campus seemed quite good. I've heard many we'll respected medical professionals also praise the college and it's alumini , so it seemed like that was the most logical option given my score in neet . I scored around 400+ and I think you need around a 350 range in neet minimum to get a seat without any donations or management quota. Other than NEET there's no other eligibility criteria required for the college.
The course curriculum is set by the NMC and it's pretty standard throughout India I feel. I chose this course since I was inclined since childhood to follow the medical field as it's my passion to become a surgeon someday. The faculty are all well qualified professors from other reputable government colleges . The method of teaching is a bit bland as they stick to the basic PowerPoints and overall the student himself or herself has to take the responsibility of understanding although when in doubt we can always approach any professor they're happy to help . The exams are pretty easy and basic to clear if you've thoroughly covered the syllabus . There has been a fee hike since I've joined of about 2 lakhs or so and I can't say for sure the exact few structure for the following year but expect to spend around 20lakhs per year for 4 and a half years basically. There are no financial aids or scholarships that I know of until now.
I have opted to work with my family at our own institution because finding work as a just graduate is extremely difficult. And the payment for a medical graduate without a post graduation degree is pointless. So I'm planning to work under any surgical department in order to understand which department is best suited for me , personally I'd choose orthopaedics as it's my personal preference but during your internship you have to rotate all departments and get a little bit of experience of each department so you have an idea of what you want to specialise in .the tasks usually involve menial work like insertion of IV, suturing, assisting in surgeries , etc but it's the stepping stone to more major medical work. Also patient history and other minor work .
After completing the course there is a compulsory internship with the college itself where you have to work with the college as an intern. The eligibility criteria is basically clear your degree. All students who complete the course have to go through the internship. I guess right now if you had to say , you'd get around 13-15k per month depending on your number of attending days. And you'll have to rotate through all departments each month till you've covered all the departments involved in the college such as medicine, surgery, pediatrics, etc. This gives you the clinical experience you need for the medical field while working under senior residents and post graduates. But post MBBS an average salary a graduate can expect is around 50,000rs a month working as a registered medical officer. The college also offers post graduate degree as well in almost all the departments. But there is a seperate entrance exam for that as well.
There's a yearly cultural fest that's held along with many conferences as well as festivals and usually they're conducted based on the batch that conducts it. There is an huge library open 24/7 with an impeccable collection of medical reference books . Classrooms are spacious and each department has its own seperate section and classes and labs. The emphasis on sports and other extra curricular activities are less but still they encourage us to go participate in tournaments. There is a student run radio channel although I have no clue whether it actually works or not the hostel is decent and has ample freedom but the mess food is horrible and it's veg. I would highly recommend getting a place outside . Hostel fees is about 1.5L. you'll find decent houses near the campus itself towards heggere side. Other than that the hostel has no other issues that I can think of at the moment. And juniors have a seperate wing so there's no issue of ragging.
There are top rated faculties which are present in the college who have pursued MBBS and MD degrees from top colleges and have for an exam to become a professor in this college and the teaching skills are pretty great as they make a topic pretty easy to understand for students

All the faculties are extremely well qualified from top institutions of the world and they are all extremely approachable and nice. The term exams we had were split like CP1, CP2, and CP3 of 20+25+25 marks each. They were some easy ones, and some application based, which develops the engineering thinking mindset
