The NIRF ranking of college in 2019 was 14th and had a solid reputation in the field of pharma education. BVP CET is the exam through which this college accepts admission from all over India. There are total 60-70 students seat for BVP CET and 30-40 students seat for MHCET
Course curriculum followed is from PCI (Pharmacy council of India). Total of 8 semesters are there. Academics is quite strong in this college, and the faculty is punctual enough to explain concepts and take labs of students. Faculty for subjects like Pharmacovigilance and clinical Pharmacy is not always available. Biostatistics faculty is also available through other colleges which make the overall learning experience a bit difficult for students. All faculty are almost PhD and some are pursuing PhD. PharmD faculty is also available for various subjects. Available courses in the college are D pharm, b pharm, PharmD and M Pharm (6 streams for m.pharm) Various laboratory equipments like HPLC, HPGLC, FTIR, GC-FTIR, Incubator, oven, etc are available in the college. For B.pharm every semester college has 2 sessionals for theory and practical each and 1 University exam for theory and sessional each. Seasonal 30 marks and University exam is of 70 marks. Practical sessional exam 40 mark
Internship opportunities are not directly available through college but students are quite competitive and hence provide an environment to fellow students to find internships themselves and grow. In 7th sem there's a provision subject of practice school where the student is supposed to spend 150 + hours and learn practical skills and in my case I attended my practice school Working as a store associate in a nearby Pharmacy.
Placement opportunities are good for M.Pharma & to some extent to PharmDs as well but for B.pharm graduates hardly any companies are coming and the collective effort of college is lacking. Out of 120 students batch only 10-15 students were able to secure Jobs.
Hostel is not good enough in size and facilities to accommodate 120 students. Girls hostel is okay but boys hostel is pathetic and the food is below par. But, in the nearby locality many options are available like PGs and flats. The nearby locality is a very good locality and in the centre of Pune city makes everything accessible. Hostel fee is nearby 1.5 LPA. Library is good enough and contains almost every essential book for a B.Pharm graduate. Extracurricular activities are planned regularly all year around like cultural fest, sports fest, pharmacy cup interstate cricket tournament. Clubs available are IIC (Institutions innovation Council), Entrepreneurship development Cell, Literature SoC, Performing Arts club, ISPOR and IPA-SF Pune branch.
I haven't reached my placement stage yet but from what I have seen the college doesn't wait until the final year to start preparing students. We have coding sessions, skills building workshops and career guidance from the beginning. Seniors also share their experiences which gives us a better idea of what to expect. I feel the college is helping us build the right foundation for internships and placements. At the same time, I think getting a good job also depends on how much effort we put into improving our own skills. So far I feel I am on the right track
no placement data is present now but many of students are working on their own projects and few are cracked the internships and now currently serving their period on the companies and it's really great opportunities.
The college does have a placement cell. It provides some in campus placements . Rarely 2% students get in campus placements. Rest have to find jobs pn their own. You wi have to do alot of interships and gain practical skills to be placed
Diffrent companies have different criteria, limited companies comes in campus such as bootcoding Pvt.Ltd , and some small companies arrived. Highest package giving by companies is 4 LPA lowest package is 3LPA and average package is 2.5LPA. about 20% of students got placed. Searching a job after my course computation.
The faculty members are supporting but inexperienced the experienced professionals have left the college long time ago. This is one of the old colleges in Pune. The semesters are generally proactive extracurricular activities are less and are given not much priority .
