The peaceful atmosphere alongside the long-living legacy of Government Medical College and Hospital Miraj were the main factors contributing to my choosing this college. I had a thorough discussion over all the choices available and the order of choice with a professional councillor. Of course the academics and the huge patient flow are the best aspects of the college but some bad aspects do exist like very old premises and scarcity of facilities. Being a very old college the hostel facilities and other things about campus might disappoint one but the overall great academics and a very helpful faculty would fill that up.
Being a doctor is a delight on its own and has always been a dream. Cracked my NEET in 2023 and got allotted this college in first round and had very mixed feelings about it. The faculty is highly qualified with enormous experience clinically as well as in teaching. The exams are held punctually and seriously along with all other continuous assessments. There is very little to no fees hike every year and if you belong to a reserved category all you have to pay is 12500 per year which includes all your costs. There are some scholarships provided by the government to some people based on reservation and other factors.
There is a compulsory 1-year internship program at the college for which you'll be provided with a reasonable stipend. This internship provided you with much-needed exposure and clinical knowledge. There are two hospitals associated with the college for internship.
Although there are no official placements as such from the college all the students are obligated to serve a one-year service to the government which would pay you an above-avera salary. Most students go for post-graduation after MBBS but one can also continue as a government doctor after the mandatory service which is also a popular option
There is one yearly fest i:e VISMAY and an annual quiz competition held in the college. Many other cultural events are celebrated throughout the year enthusiastically and actively. Sports competitions and other competitive activities are also held. A huge library with a decently large collection is open 24*7. About the hostel, as you would expect from a government college is not very impressive though there are other options in the locality. You can always rent a flat or a room which would cost you around 4-5k per month. For the hostel, you pay 4k for the whole year included in the fees.
I haven't reached my placement stage yet but from what I have seen the college doesn't wait until the final year to start preparing students. We have coding sessions, skills building workshops and career guidance from the beginning. Seniors also share their experiences which gives us a better idea of what to expect. I feel the college is helping us build the right foundation for internships and placements. At the same time, I think getting a good job also depends on how much effort we put into improving our own skills. So far I feel I am on the right track
no placement data is present now but many of students are working on their own projects and few are cracked the internships and now currently serving their period on the companies and it's really great opportunities.
The college does have a placement cell. It provides some in campus placements . Rarely 2% students get in campus placements. Rest have to find jobs pn their own. You wi have to do alot of interships and gain practical skills to be placed
Diffrent companies have different criteria, limited companies comes in campus such as bootcoding Pvt.Ltd , and some small companies arrived. Highest package giving by companies is 4 LPA lowest package is 3LPA and average package is 2.5LPA. about 20% of students got placed. Searching a job after my course computation.
The faculty members are supporting but inexperienced the experienced professionals have left the college long time ago. This is one of the old colleges in Pune. The semesters are generally proactive extracurricular activities are less and are given not much priority .
