The only reason I have chose this college is because this college is close to my residence and it supports sportspersons. As I am an athlete, I need to invest my time in practice and Shailendra College supports it. For admission, no additional test or interview was required. The admission was based on the HSC examination percentage.
BscIT is the only course that I think would have an impact on the future job market, among all the other Bsc courses. It is because it revolves around computer technology. However, the course curriculum, which is decided by University of Mumbai, is very much outdated. Old systems and software are taught. Doing this may clear the basics for students, but it is also time-consuming. New systems are very convenient for students to use and learn. The faculty is very engaging with students. Though most of the faculty is pretty qualified, some are so not. The college itself does not avail of any scholarships based on merit. Only cast fee concessions are given. The fee for the first year is ? 24858 and the second year is? 26296.
I haven’t seen any internship opportunities made available for the students at our college. Only part-time or full-time jobs have been offered by the companies. Students from the first year of their college are also recruited. The college then manages the attendance of the students who are going for jobs.
Many campus placement campaigns are held throughout the year at our colleges. Companies like ICICI Lombard, Motilal Oswal, Kotak, Mahindra etc. recruit students regularly. The starting packages which students receive are usually around. 60000 LPA. But some students have also received? 300000 LPA package. I plan to undergo a Master of Design degree after completion of my current course.
No hostel is available for this college. Most of the students admitted to this college are from the Mira Road area. Very few come from Vasai-Virar. The campus doesn’t give a feeling of college experience at all. As the school section is in the same building as the college, there is a mess of school students. Various club activities are going on every time of the year though. Teachers are always encouraging students to take part in clubs and extracurriculars.
I haven't reached my placement stage yet but from what I have seen the college doesn't wait until the final year to start preparing students. We have coding sessions, skills building workshops and career guidance from the beginning. Seniors also share their experiences which gives us a better idea of what to expect. I feel the college is helping us build the right foundation for internships and placements. At the same time, I think getting a good job also depends on how much effort we put into improving our own skills. So far I feel I am on the right track
no placement data is present now but many of students are working on their own projects and few are cracked the internships and now currently serving their period on the companies and it's really great opportunities.
The college does have a placement cell. It provides some in campus placements . Rarely 2% students get in campus placements. Rest have to find jobs pn their own. You wi have to do alot of interships and gain practical skills to be placed
Diffrent companies have different criteria, limited companies comes in campus such as bootcoding Pvt.Ltd , and some small companies arrived. Highest package giving by companies is 4 LPA lowest package is 3LPA and average package is 2.5LPA. about 20% of students got placed. Searching a job after my course computation.
The faculty members are supporting but inexperienced the experienced professionals have left the college long time ago. This is one of the old colleges in Pune. The semesters are generally proactive extracurricular activities are less and are given not much priority .
